Just Close Hollywood Studios And Start Over

I love the feel of this park especially at night. Just hoping D23 has some major announcements

^^This. We really loved being here at night. It was great. And even the DJ dance party was cool - just people watching. But there was just a neat energy/vibe there that was fun. We loved strolling around looking at the lights etc...

I use to love HS (especially when it was called MGM) but don't think you need to close it down. there is ample space in that park to close sections of it and keep the headliners opened.

What pisses me off about disney is their refusal to work on this park. How come they can slap up new dvc hotels in a matter of weeks, yet it's taking decades to get Star wars land or whatever is supposedly coming to fruition???

Just please, can we keep One Man's Dream? Or move it at least? I am really going to be sad if it's not open in Nov. Keep moving forward, just don't forget where it all started.

Wait, is Starting Rolls closed too now?
No but if they were to close DHS for construction it would be. That would be the biggest tragedy, imo. I go to DHS just for that cupcake! Right after I ride RnR and before I watch muppets. Lol

*whew* I am with you on this! A trip there was one of my highlights each year when I was a kid.

THIS!! Enough with the DVCs. Give us attractions!

I don't think any of us seriously think the Disney would actually close the park. But wouldn't it be nice if they closed it for 6 months (say, January to June), worked on it at a breakneck pace, 24/7, and then reopened something completely mind-blowing??? No construction walls, no glacier's pace of building...just BAM, a huge reopening of a totally different park under a different name. That would be awesome, but it's never, ever going to happen. No, this DHS reimagining is going to be years in the making.

What's frustrating for me is they're announcing closure after closure after closure with no hint of what's to come. Can't they announce ANYTHING? To an outside observer, it just seems like they're shutting everything down and letting the park die a slow death, all while raking in money from unsuspecting guests. It would be nice to have a hint that SOMETHING is coming, anything to replace all the closures. But nope...all rumors and speculation and that's it. Doesn't feel very "magical" to me.

I think that a lot of the anger/frustration would go away if Disney would just announce what was coming in the place of all the closures. Assuming the announcement was something that people liked (Star Wars, Pixar, Marvel) we'd all be more understanding about losing attractions right now.

I also expect a pretty big announcement at D23 on it. I do wonder if they are waiting for the SW movie to come out this winter first though? Just to make sure it's as big of a hit as planned before moving forward with it in the parks?

Love DHS! The majority of rides our fam loves are here. The DS and I were extremely bummed to hear about the Magic of Disney Animation closure  The shows are entertaining as are the street performers! There is sufficient capability to close what is going to be redone while keeping the major attractions open.

Could the park use a touch up? Yes, but it is not as bad as all that.DHS closures.jpg

At this point, given how much they've closed, they should drop the price of the one day ticket to HS. The last time we were there in November, we spent less than 2 hours at the park -- we rode TOT, ST, saw the Muppets, and walked around. We didn't really find anything else of interest to do. We were just speaking with friends who just returned from the parks (and who are annual visitors and say this was their last trip for a long time after daily customer service debacles) and they said they skipped HS entirely because they couldn't get FP for TSM which was the only thing their kids wnated to do at that park.

I agree that maybe a discounted ticket price would be a good idea for Disney. I also think that Disney should just announce what they are planning to do with DHS instead of just closing things and leaving us in the dark. I love Disney, but it definitely is a little frustrating with all of the closures at DHS!

Here here! I can't figure out the logic of adding thousands of beds but taking away attractions. I'm thinking that the guests will likely want something to do once they leave their resort.

The Studios suffered from short-sighted planning from the get-go. The idea of a working studio/theme park was cool, and that's how it started. But as filming in central Florida started fizzling out, the park started adding more attractions that seemed to belong in MK instead. So then it wasn't really a studio, and didn't have enough rides to be a proper theme park. Now you've got.a weird mish-mash of stuff in a park that is still themed to Hollywood and movie-making but nothing really seems to fit.

Even the park layout seems like an afterthought.

I used to love Hollywood Studios but now find it mostly skippable.

I am heartbroken over the closing of Magic of Disney Animation - Animation Academy was my absolute FAVORITE! C'mon Disney... don't forget your roots as an ANIMATION STUDIO!!
