Just checked in to GC!

Flight wasn't too bad. Airport security is great. It's nice to see them being vigilant.

Stepped off the bus at National's Emerald Aisle and had about 6 SUV's to choose from

Checked in to the Grand Californian, and I asked what kind of view we were getting. (Had requested a theme park view, but we are staying on points which only guarantees us standard view). She looks at me apologetically and says that they were all out of theme park views so they upgraded us to concierge level..... oh darn!

Right now I'm sitting here munching on room service (nothing else is open at 11 pm) and having a grand start to my vacation. Can't wait for tomorrow!

If there's anything anyone wants me to find out... let me know.

I wish I could be lucky like you!! What a good way to start your vacations!! How's the concierge? If you have time, would you mind going over to DLH and PP and let us know what you think. We will be in DL next year and I kind of know what resort we want to stay at, but I just want your opinion on the resorts there. Thanks!! Have a wonderful time!! We flew from Sacramento (SMF) to LAX. Sacramento security was great. Very organized. There were signs posted that explained the security procedures. Staff was professional and very courteous, but efficient.

LAX on the way back was more of a disappointment. The person who was screening itineraries at the security checkpoint was not in any sort of uniform so we walked right past her. She had to call to us to stop and come back. (She was wearing street clothes and was more involved in talking to some guy.) Then the actual checkpoint staff were pretty rude. They did not explain to us what they wanted... how they wanted it, etc. (We were traveling with a carry-on full of electronics and a stroller and carseat). Both DH and I felt they were barking at us, and they could have been a bit more polite. There were no other people behind us, so it's not like they were in a hurry to check us through.

Ummm, well, it turns out we were only staying on the Concierge level, but not given Concierge privileges. Wish they'd specified that before I marched into the lounge for breakfast <blush>.

Don't think we would have taken much advantage of the amenities, other than the water/sodas throughout the day. We spent most of the time in the parks. The GC is a beautiful hotel to look at, but for some strange reason, I still like the DLH. I just feel the atmosphere at the DLH is a bit more "fun", while the GC is too subdued. That's just me.

On the upside, everyone at the hotel was SUPER nice! Did not walk past a single cast member who did not stop and ask how our visit was going. They really go out of their way to make people feel welcome.

Thank you bubbasmom99. Oh that's too bad that they won't let you guys use the concierge ammenities. It shouldn't break thier bank if you got some drinks or nibble on something. Yes, it would have been nice if they told you this ahead of time.

We like "fun"!! We are happy fun people! We have two young kids and always love to have fun. So DLH sounds like the right choice for us. We'll be waiting for your trip report!
