Just checked in online for SW flight!!!

Just had to post this because I am so excited.....months and months of planning and I finally hit the 24 mark so I could check in for my SW flight!!!

I kept refreshing my screen starting about 2 mins before the 24 hour mark, and when I finally got through to be able to check in, I got A passes 9, 10 and 11. Whoever got 1-8 is unbelievably fast!!

ETA- This is my first time being really concerned about checking in and getting an A boarding pass. My DS had the nerve to turn 5 since we last flew SW, so our pre-boarding days are over!

They reflect the order in which you checked in for boarding passes and really are meaningless. What is important is boarding group, which is by letter.

Generally speaking, 40 - 46. SWA flys three variations of 737's, the 300, 500, and 700 series, which seat anywhere from about 120 to just under 150. So, it all depends on the type of plane they use for your route. I would use 40 as your benchmark.

There are some websites that will take your flight info and guarantee you an "A" boarding pass for a fee. No "A", no fee. They check you in to Southwest and all you have to do is print your boarding pass at the Southwest kiosks at the terminal. I'm assuming they somehow automate the checkin process, because they seem to have quite a business going that Southwest is trying to shut them down.

We flew SWA out of LAX to PHL on Wed. I used my cell phone to check in from Disneyland while waiting in line! How cool is that?

(I had the front desk print my boarding passes later, but at least I was able to secure those "A" boarding passes within minutes of our 24-hour window opening.)
