Just cancelled ddp and heres why

going in nov for 8 nights but 2 of those days are scheduled for universal but that didn't bother us we knew we could use up the meals no problem. made 4 ADRs for ts but decided not to schedule the whole trip around eating . we've been to WDW countless times but with my sister's family ds8 and ds4 and my dd2 and dd6 and DW we just know from exp. that sitting down and not riding rides takes it toll o the kids. so we decided to just use the remainder of the TS and trade them in for CS crazy but We were in the moment. Well come to find out Dis will no longer transfer one meal to another. Even as crazy as TS for a CS . so weve decided to take the pressure off and pay out of pockect . Well fellow DISers what Cha Think.

When we were there 2 weeks ago they said we could and we did use TS meal credit for a CS meal. I called our front desk to ask if could do that and they said absolutely and then when we were at the CS restaurant and I told the cashier what we were doing she said no problem and rang it right up.

We just got back and they DO transfer TS for CS. It's a huge ordeal with the people at the dining line and at the FD, but when DH went to do it at the actual eating establishment it was no problem!

The DDP is not for everyone. And by realizing it's not for you before you were 'out' that money is a good thing. Enjoy your meals.

The trading down of TS to CS was only during the free dining period and ended on the 10th (or today?) But I believe I remember reading when the DDP was first introduced that you could trade down TS for CS and you could even trade in 2 CS for 1 TS. But that has not been the case for at least a year.

Thanks for replies I've since talked to a disney castmember and the reason they let this go on was because during free DDP most TS were already book so they had to let DDP guest use their credits as they please. but now the ADRs are not booked up so the hammers about to be laid down. So I know now I made a great choice and let me tell you DISers . I felt like my trip was being dictated by food . Had to be here to eat at this time and would try to eat a full meal again 3 hours later etc.. now back to old school OOP but loving the magic. I know we all over think when it comes to planning our trips to DISNEY but what good would be if we didn't.

Before the free dining promotion, some of the hotel front desks were willing to convert TS credits into CS credits for you, on a one-for-one basis, no snacks, no lanyard, towards the end of your trip, as long as you undestood that there was no converting them back. Perhaps folks can start doing that again.

We took DD6 to Neverland Club at the Polynesian, DW and I went to Cirticos which requires 2 TS meal credits per guest. Now DW and I would have 2 less TS credits to use than our DD would have with no way to use her TS credits. I liked it when they used to let you use credits for other events like wishes did.

The plans that used wishes were much more expensive than the current dining plan. I think it was about $68.00 per night per adult.

I'd like the option of trading two TS credits for tier 2 Cirque tickets.

I agree with you completely. The whole dining plan thing was free for us so we took advantage of it but the stress of making ADRs (it was busy during our stay and they were a must), planning our day around said ADR, and keeping the kids happy (and awake) for a long sit down meal, made us trade in our credits our last two days. I would never pay for the plan for our family (especially if this flexibility is taken away), at least not untill the kids are older and we have more WDW trips under our belt.

I like the concept but as I stated it just desn't fit into our plans but I suggested to the castmember that if you have disney my way plans why not have dining my way plan .For ex. On a 5 night stay family of four might want all CS 3 times a day and 2 snacks a day , that would be 60 cs and 40 snacks so the total might be 700.00. You take same family that wants 2 TS and and 1 Cs no snacks, total 960.00. I know every family out here has different expectation when they come to the parks . So my way dining would be great

With many set plans such as the Dining Plan, pricing factors in a certain amount of non-use. Redressings of the plan, which would result in less non-use (such as anything that included more flexibility or transferability) would invariably have to be more expensive, which in turn could make it so that a lot of guests wouldn't like the plan as much. I think Disney is playing with snack credits as their means of making the plans more flexible without losing significant amount of profitability. They also seem to be playing with menus to help buffer the impact of unintended use. Playing with TS and CS, without it being a clear win for Disney (such as the one-for-one TS for CS arrangement which they're willing to do), would probably be too difficult to control, since it would rely on guests sticking to usage as intended. We know how bad it is to rely on guests to do as you intend rather than doing as would be suit them!
