Actually canceled the rese today. I feel soo bad about it - but I just do not think it was worth $$$... But the feeling was great while it lasted....

Now I only have one countdown clock!

:guilty:    :guilty:

Hi. What was it that you cancelled? Just curious why do you think it's not worth it? Was it a 3/4 nt cruise?

I'm having the same thoughts but still hanging on.

The MAGIC will be in California this summer. The cruises taking it to and from the Pacific Ocean, through the Panama Canal are being called REPO CRUISES (repositioning cruises) on these boards. Some people booked as soon as the cruises were announced, in mid May as I recall, but for various reasons are having to rethink that decision. Not sure which direction jfs9900 and Sam were booked on though.

I know how you feel, we had the 10 day christmas cruise booked from last October and I wound up cancelling it it March, because I couldn't justify paying that much money.

So instead I book a 7 day for this Halloween and a 7 day west coast for our 10 year anniversary in June of 2005.:p

Awww, sorry to hear that.
I know how you feel though. Im getting buyers remorse and debating cancelling our CA cruise for next year. For less than the price of that 7 day we can do a RCI 7 night cruise(in a newer bigger ship) and time in WDW in a deluxe hotel with hopper passes and other activites included. Its tempting. Plus since I seem to be getting the run around from DCL regarding our other cancelled cruise, Im starting to sour on them. :(

I've got a cat 9 for 2 adults on the west bound cruise. Total cost was a bit over $4k. Pretty good price for that cruise on DCL but I can do a lot more for my family with that money on other lines.

2 weeks is also a big chunk of time to be disconnected from me to be disconnected from work - though I'd love to try. :D

I'm sorry that you canceled, but I'm glad that you posted, too.

We're also booked to go on the REPO for Aug 20, 2005. I've been think it's not a good idea. We booked a week after the dates opened and didn't get a good price at all. I booked a GTY 10 for 2 adults and 1- 8 year old, total price just for the cruise no ins. or anything is $6182.67.
I figured by the time I added air, transfers a nights stay in Calif. food, spending money, excursions, tips, who knows what else it would cost around $9,000.
That's alot of money. We could do 3, 7 night cruises for that price.

Strongly thinking of pulling out too.

Jan are you going? I've seen you posting on the 8/20/2005 thread but didn't know if you had signed on or not.

Its funny! Im looking at your prices and I think they look good compared to my 7 day price, of 7,000.00+ but I do have a cat 6 booked. Still though, Im starting to feel like its not worth the value.

Sorry to hear you won't be joining us on the 10 day. Enjoy your Halloween cruise!

Was scheduled on the may repo. Cat 6 for 2 people was 5200.... Not a horrible rate, but for all the sea days, it just does not seem worth it.

I could book a similar sailing on RCCL for a lot less in a Royal Suite or JS and still have money to save.

Also was thinking about other possible vacation alternatives (Olympics 2006 or an Alaskan cruise)....

Still looking forward to the Oct 9th sailing though!

Our 7 night for 3 adults was 7,000 for a cat 5. I know it's a lot of money, but it's probably the only cruise I will be able to go on so we just went for it. Got the verandah so that was a lot of extra expense. I just keep telling myself "remember...it's the 50th anniv. cruise and it's Disney so it should be real special" !
And if we can't ever afford to go on another at least I know we got the best on our first cruise!:sunny:

I Think Calling on the First Day We Got a Great Rate....

Thanks To Sam...

We Paid Just under 3k

Considering we are Cruising in Less than 2 weeks and we paid $2100.00 For a 7 Day..

See All of You WHO Are Happy Now!! and Will Be Going..
In MAY....

We are scheduled for the Aug 20 Repo cruise also and are thinking about cancelling. Besides the price, we're not sure about so many sea days in a row. We just did a seven day this past May and although we had a wonderful time, we were not too upset about it being time to get off at the end of the cruise. I also remember how full (from eating so much wonderful food) we were each night. I don't know if I could take that for 14 days! I know we don't "have" to eat so much but we just can't seem to help ourselves with all of that good food--not to mention the Mickey Bars each night!

We "were" also booked on the Aug 20th repo and canceled. I also had issues with all the sea days, we rebooked with RCCL that had even sea vs land (in October). I know repos are mostly sea days, but most cruise lines offere them with even amounts of each. I made the exception because it was DCL and we had gotten a good price, but when the letter came that there would be "another" sea day we canceled. I just hope that someone that will enjoy the cruise more than we would have got the call for the room :) We LOVE cruising don't get me wrong and we love DCL, but I enjoy cruising because it is an easy way to see other locations, I generally sleep through sea days :)

But for us, I can't say that it's not worth the money. The rate we booked at was about twice the price of a 7 day (which is understandable for a 14 day cruise) plus a reasonable amount for air-fare.

But I must admit that the price tag is very large (about 1/3 the price of a car we're still paying off!!!). While I don't want to if we can avoid it, I fear that when the time comes to pay-up, we'll be a part of the hoard of people canceling 60 days out. :(

jfs9900, I love your attitude about your upcoming cruise. With that mindset, you're bound to have a blast.

Just remember that DCL already changed the itinerary once for these two cruises and probably will again since they have some time. Even if they don't, the at sea days don't bother me (I think they're more relaxing). The main reason I'm going is for the Panama Canal anyway.

I booked right away and transferred the ressie to Costco and saved an additional $422. We have a Cat. 6 for 2 adults and a 2 year old and are paying $4800.

I have to cancel the Aug 20th cruise too. The school district where I live changed the start day for school. Instead of one week before Labor Day, it is now two weeks prior to Labor Day. I do not mind my daughter missing a few days of school, but not two weeks in a row. It is not like when I was young, school always started the day after Labor Day.
