Just off the phone with CRO. I am completely at a loss to understand how there can be no AAA rate standard rooms, when the rate opened up today, for late June 2007 at CSR. The only thing the CM would offer me at AAA rate is a parlor suite. :confused3

Not only that, I just went to the AAA website to try to book from there. The listed rate for a standard room at CSR during my dates is $175, which is the rack rate. :sad2:

*packages* started booking today. haven't room only reservations been available for awhile? all their discounts might already by allocated.

Right room only ressies have been open for awhile but not at AAA discount. I find it hard to believe that a huge number of people book their rooms and then go back later to apply AAA...not that many people who visit disney read the dis!...or that CSR is effectively sold out a year in advance.

Whenever I've tried to get AAA rate for CSR, it's never available. I suspect CSR has very few AAA rate rooms allocated due to their focus on the convention trade.

On the other hand, it's always been available for POR and POFQ, even close to the dates we've traveled. So, this speaks to a far greater allocation of AAA rate rooms at those 2 resorts.

Just got off the phone with WDW and couldn't book a AAA package. I was told they could only book room only with AAA discount. Do I need to call AAA directly? I got what I think is a great rate at the Wilderness Lodge. Wanted to stay on the monorail but yikes the prices per night were outrageous. Have to check and see if any better codes come out as we approach.

We booked Polynesian today. Oh, I have a suggestion, you may want to reserve a room because when we booked Poly today we were so lucky we got the last Garden View. Apparently bookings for 2007 are at a record high for Disney.

That is correct. You can book a room only through Disney with an AAA discount but if you want a package with AAA, then you have to go through an AAA agent.

I tried to book a few weeks ago - room-only, as I knew the packages weren't out yet. I called at the 499 day mark - the earliest possible day to book for our November 2007 vacation - and was told nothing was available at any price except for the Jr. Suites or rooms with king-sized beds that only allow 2 occupants (we have three in our party.) I'm just going to keep hassling them until they let me in. I'm currently booked at POFQ, and none too happy about it. I think that convention planners book all the rooms for their dates, and then as people actually sign up for the convention, the rooms that they don't use become available. Keep trying - I've already told the folks at CRO that they might as well let me in now and save us all hundreds of phone calls!

I think there must have only been a VERY FEW AAA discounted rooms. I had a super long time on the phone early this afternoon with a very nice CRO CM. She tried and tried and called Guest Services because even she couldn't believe they would be already sold out. I am bummed.....I was trying for the last week of March 2007 and I usually never book this early. It just blows me away that I have to plan this far in advance!! I am used to doing the 2 month out ressies and still having a discount.

I think we will be going somewhere else rather than pay rack rate at peak season which was coming to over $8000. There was plenty of availabilty at the GF, just not discounted. Maybe they are saving rooms for AP rates?? I can hope!

I just got the AAA room-only discount applied to my existing CSR ressie for April 15-22, 2007. We saved over $200.00! :thumbsup2

I called yesterday and was able to get it for CSR for our Jan/Feb stay. After reading this thread, I'm really glad I called! I was going to wait until today, but DH told me to go ahead and call because he knew how disappointed I would be if we had to change resorts to get the reduced rate. The discount saved us about $200!

We got lucky and managed to get the AAA Rate applied to our February Polynesian booking - saving us $55 per night! :thumb:

I called too and the CM explained that to do AAA package you have to use AAA travel agent. It saves 10%.
We are doing AKL split w/Pop Easter week. The rate changes from Peak to regular during our trip so I chose to go cheap the first few days. Happy planning :cool1:

This is what I think too. I told the CM I was going to try back another time. Or I might just book a room at rack and then try later to get AAA applied to it...

Same thing happened to me. This is the first time I am booking w/AAA TA because we want the dining and I am an AP holder. My travel agent couldn't get the rate I wanted so she kept trying and the computer opened up. It first said there were no AAA rates available, but my in-laws are also going and had their heart set on POFQ so after two more tries she was able to get AAA rate. You can give her a call if you want and see if she can get the rate for you. Also, remember the computers were really being overwhelmed with the 2007 rates just coming out so they may not be 100% accurate. Either try with Disney or call my TA -- AAA Vacations, Michelle Shears, Best of luck to you!

Unless you want to get the dining plan you can book the AAA room only rate through Disney and then your tickets seperatly. The price is the same between a AAA room only and tickets & the packages. The only difference is you can only add the dining plan to a package. (not a room only w/tickets)
