So after almost 7 months of engagement I am FINALLY 1 year out and could call Disney FTW!!! They asked why I wanted a Disney wedding and I said because I am a Disney Fanatic and am slowly converting my fiance :) I am amazed how EASY it is to convert him too - after 1 week long trip last fall he actually chose Disney over an all inclusive resort for a week in January because he wanted to go back and COMB the Magic Kingdom and see the wedding site. I knew there was a reason I loved him!!:rotfl:

We are doing an Escape Wedding, hoping for Monday October 20th, 2008 at SBP at 2:30pm with a reception dinner most likely at Spoodles (although I am still going back and forth on that) and a dessert party in Epcot right after. We will be spending 14 full days there for wedding and honeymoon and I am SUPER excited.

We want to keep it very simple, no big extra decorations or favors or anything, although I do want to get mickey ears with everyones names stitched on them to wear at my command!!! pirate:

Yeah, so I just had to share my excitement. I probably won't do a whole lot of planning other than the dress for awhile but this in itself is making me dance right now.

Congratulations!

We're also doing Mickey Ears as favors - it's a classic! Plus, how else will I ever get to see my two snobby anti-Disney relatives in personalized mouse ears? :rotfl:

Where are you ordering your from? I found a site that does DisneyLAND ears with the embroidery but they couldn't embroider the DisneyWORLD ears.

We're going to buy ours at Disneyland and have them embroidered there for free. I didn't think about the fact that they would say DisneyLAND and not Disney WORLD....oh well - we have a 20% off coupon and they don't charge for embroidery at Disneyland!

Your Disney floral coordinator can hook you up with mouse ears and have them embroidered too. I don't know how competitive the prices are, though....

Doreen got back to me today and confirmed that yes, October 20, 2008 at 2:30pm at SBP is available and I am penciled in although it can't be confirmed until Monday when we are actually 1 year out :cool1:

Now this weekend I have to have the talk with my dad about our budget and how much he can help with. And no, I never thought I would be the girl who's dad pays for her wedding but he just won some MASSIVE cases (he is a lawyer) and since he is offering and has no desire to control the wedding in return for paying who am I to say no!:thumbsup2

Question for those who have gotten the annual passes with your weddings - Did you pay to have them upgraded from the basic passes to the premium passes? How much was it? Doreen said she wasn't sure but she thought it would be around $350 per ticket!!! When I compared the basic and premium passes online it was only a $130 difference so I don't know if the wedding passes are different but that is a lot more than I was wanting to spend. Any insight on this from those who have done it would be greatly appreciated.

Eep!!!! 1 year out!!!

In response to your ticket question. I got the following answer when I asked if we could upgrade to include the water parks...

"The annual pass voucher we present to our wedding couples is a gift and is a special ticket in the Disney ticket system. Is can be up-graded to another ticket but financially it does not make sense to take this route. The system recognizes the ticket at a zero dollar item and tries to upgrade it from $0. Therefore the upgrade would actually cost the entire price of the new ticket. What I recommend is for you to purchase a Water Park Annual Pass which currently sells for $106.45 per adult."

First of all - congratulations and looking forward to reading more about your planning. We are planning a DFTW next November with about 40 to 50 people. We will be in WDW this November for Thanksgiving and will be doing a site visit. We are living in central NJ now (near Princeton) so we probably do not live too far from you.

I have a question about the upgraded AP - what "extras" are included in the upgraded AP's that are not included in the AP's you will be receiving?

Darn it! That really stinks...I am thinking that we might not hit the water parks and DisneyQuest to make it worth it so we might just stick with the basic passes, add the Pleasure Island annual pass and get 1-2 day tickets for the water parks and just skip Disney Quest since we weren't that impressed anyway.

Thanks!! And congrats to you too :) DF and I actually met at Rutgers and lived in New Brunswick for our first 5 years together so I know that area of NJ well.

As far as I can tell the basic passes they give you allow unlimited admission to all 4 of the parks but nothing else. The upgraded passes also give you unlimited admission to DisneyQuest, Pleasure Island, both water parks and the Wide World of Sports. Considering we will be in Pleasure Island nightly :drinking1 and DisneyQuest not at all (DF was not impressed last time, kind of dingy and half the games didn't work) and I can see us doing water parks only once or twice we will probably do upgrades in bits and pieces.

i used to live there as well, my family still lives in dayton (south brunswick township) most of my family went to rutgers!!!

Does the AP you receive also include parking? That is a big expense.

I live in Kendall Park so I know Dayton very well (just a few minutes away) and I work in Hightstown so I go through Dayton every day. My DF works in the post office in New Brunswick so he knows that area very well also. We are originally from Queens so living here has been a big change.

Glad to hear about other brides from this area.

wow. small world. i grew up in kendall park, went to brunswick acres elementary, crossroads middle and sbhs (class of 98)! we were just there last week!

Hahaha...Lot's of Jersey Girls!!! I am just an adopted Jersey girl though, I was born and raised in Portland, OR and moved out here 6 years ago.

The question on AP - I believe that all AP's include parking, and parking should be included if you are staying onsite anyway.

It's a small world after all --- all these New Jersey brides. We have been in Kendall Park 7 years (from Queens). We enjoy it here - very different from Queens.

We purchased Lenox Mickey and Minnie ear ornaments from the Lenox warehouse in Cranbury that we will be using as favors. They were having an unbelieveable sale, I think they started out at 4.99 and if you spent a certain amount you received and extra 20% off. I kept going back for more. They finally had them maked down to 1.49 less 20%. I have alot of Mickey but might be a few short on the Minnie. We have to personalize them ourselves so I bought extra to practice on.

I was curious about the parking because my DF's dad lives in Orlando so we are down there quite often but not always staying in a Disney hotel.

Hope to speak with everyone soon.

Linda
