I read on this board that somebody called DCL and was told what restuarant rotation they had so they could figure out went to book Palo. But I just called and they said that they dont designate what restuarant rotation we have until right before the cruise???

That's always been what I've heard. The actual dinning arrangements rotation and serving team wise are not made until the day of embarkation.

Many times they will let you put in a request for a specific rotation, if you wish, but they are not guarenteed or awarded.

They did say that the 3rd and 4th night on a 4 night cruise are at the same restuarant. Is this true?

I believe that you can only select your rotation ahead of time if you are booked into a suite and have concierge service. Otherwise you don't find out about your rotation until embarkation.

:sunny: I also called today, and got the same response. Basically, they have an idea - based on what it normally is, but that could change. This is what they told me for a 3 night cruise -
First night - Dress night (Triton's/Lumiere's)
Second night - Animator's Palate
Third night - Parrot's

That makes it quite difficult to make Palo ressies. We dont want to miss out on the other restuarants either.

That does not make sense to me - the rotation they gave you. How can everyone on the ship start out in Tritons? Each restaurant must be someones first night assignment.
Does anyone know how this new rotating times for meals works. If you get 8pm do you have that for the 3 or 4 nights and what about the show in the restaurant - won;t they be messed up? Why are they doing this>?

Then how did that other poster find out. I read the same thread that you did. They told her which rotation she would have on a 4 day.

If you have the REAS package you can REQUEST your dining rotation when you make your Palo ressie with Debbie, but no guarantees.

We tend to make our Palo ressies late enough that we can "double dip" if we don't want to miss dinner in the normal restaurant that night. ;)

The 4th night will be the same restaurant you ate at on the 1st night. So, the only way to avoid missing a restaurant is to book Palo on the 4th night.

I last took a 4 night cruise 2 years ago, and there was no pirate night on the 4 night cruise, only on the 7 night. I'm not sure if this has changed.

That's what we've done. Many will say 'I can't eat that much.' DH and I can't eat much either, but we enjoy every dining rotation so much that we don't want to miss anything. So we go to Palo dinner at 6:30 (we have late seating,) and enjoy the dining rooms with DD. (We usually have coffee while she has her dinner.) That way, we don't miss pirate night, formal night, the show at AP, or any other surprises that might come our way. Every cruise we've sailed, there's been a memory that we were so glad we didn't skip a dining rotation. :earsgirl:

FTL:

Pirate Night for us is on Tuesday (Castaway Cay day).
Wherever you eat that night will be repeated on Wednesday.
If you happen to have AP those days, the "show" is only Tuesday.

I did call DCL yesterday & they told me my dining rotation. We leave on 5/15/05. She told me I had PC/T/AP & then AP again. So I made my Palo Reservation for the 4th night (she had also told me Pirate night was on the 2nd or 3rd night ( I can't remember which). Maybe I got someone new who didn't know what she was talking about or because we cruise next weekend they had it planned???

What time did you get your ressie for? We have it at 6:30pmon the 4th night . Hope that works out fine with the shows etc...

Well we have 8:00 for the reseverations but now I think I'll cancel because we have Animator's Palate for 3rd & 4th nights. Pirate Night is on 3rd night so room won't change until 4th night. I don't think this is something we shoud miss. I think we'll just cancel Palo all together, is that a bad call?

Or maybe they have tentative schedules (I'd have them when payments are complete and first second seating is given out), but don't want to tell you because they'll continue to switch them around until the last minute as people book up the cabins released by non-payment, move them around, etc.

If I were DCL, I'd want that flexibility - i.e. you know you have a family reunion coming on board, they want to add four people less than sixty days out, you have a cabin for them, and now need to move people from dining room to dining room to have them all eat in the same place. And I wouldn't want someone boarding, getting a different rotation, and yelling "But you told me I'd be APL!"
