Ok so the lady I spoke to on the DVC line was not very helpful. I went on the tour about a month ago to purchase. We received our approval 2 weeks ago. I gave my cousins info when we took the tour as a referral and the lady I spoke to told me she doesnt think I am eligible for the discount as it has not been running very long? ( when did this offer start? ) you would think they would know right?! My rep is on vaca and I cant seem to get any answers....who should I call???

Thanks guys!

I believe it started around the 15th of October. I know it been about 3 weeks since I first talked to my guide about the new offer.

so if we got approved after the deal started do you think we should be eligible? in your opinion? i just dont want to seem like a pain to my rep! should I even bother to try for it?!

Thanks

We checked out the 8th of October and the Wednesday after we got home we were able to take advantage of it. So around the 15th is when it did start.

I would think if they want the sale they would be willing to give you the incentive.

Yes I would bother to try for it. For a basic 150 point contract it will save you $1005!!!

I was going the buy at the end of Sept. I asked my guide about the upcoming offer. He said that If I signed the end of Sept. that I had 30 days to change. So he said if the new offer was better he would change it to the offer that I wanted. My guide is Scott MacDonald. Didnt buy in Sept, just decided to wait and see. And this is a much better offer. And since I was in the system for the past 2 1/2 years I didnt need a referral. Hope this helps. :cool1:

see thats the problem, they already have the sale. 15% is a huge chunk off our purchase price and would lower our payments considerably. but since the paperwork is already signed and we received our approval confirmation, Im not sure they will honor it. It seems like Im missing out due to a technicality as the offer was not in place when we signed but it was before we were approved!

Why do I have to be such a cheapo?! Its killing me to think that I could get 15% off ! but then again I will drive 5 miles out of my way to save 3 cents a gallon on gas!!! lol

does anyone have a contact # for the person who does all the paperwork? I cant remember her name but she came in w/ us and had us sign for everthing...is it maybe accounting?

Thanks

Call the official DVC number from the disney website and ask to speak to a manager, there is no reason why you shouldn't get the discount!!! Other people in a similar situation have gotten it. Good Luck!!!

Sounds like you are on the borderline. If you talked with your guide after Oct. 1st, he/she should have told you about the new upcoming offer and advised you to hold off a week or so. I was told by my guide that the offer in Sept. would expire on Sat. Oct 1st and on Monday the 3rd they would have info on the new offer, so he should have known about it. I would speak with MICKEY himself if I had to. This is a big chunk of money not to put up a fuss about.

I think you have so many days after you sign your contract to decline and cancel it. We did that when we decided it was better for us to buy 220 points at this price then 180 and I had already sent my papers back.

It wasn't a hassle at all. You may need to call quality assurance as they do the approval and send out the paperwork.

According to the paperwork you only have 15 days to cancel the contract. Hopefully you left a message(or faxed a letter) with someone regarding this issue within 15 days of signing. Otherwise, I get the feeling that DVC is not very flexible in bending the rules -I believe they will tell you that you should have took issue before entering the contract(assuming it's been more than 15 days). In any event, try not to let it ruin what should be a good thing. What exactly did you pay per point, the $90? It would be about an 8% savings going to the $83/point.

I am pretty sure we paid $90 pp. I wish they would let me add on w/ the discount but I dont need over 100 addtl points. If they would let me add on 25 or 50 w/ 15% off I would be happy and feel as though they made up for the oversite by my advisor. but now I feel short changed. :-( ... oh well ....I am still very glad I finally decided to buy regardless!!!!!

You know what, why don't you see if they will rewrite the contract and include that 25-50 points add-on instead of waiting?

I've heard of other folks getting their contracts re-written.

Good luck and let us know. I really hope you get it!

the new offer started oct 10, i know i called wednesday oct 12 and got the new deal and my guide said that it just started monday

My in laws bought while we were in Disney. This was Oct 5. The signed and paid at $90 a point. Their guide called them when this new deal came in. Instead of taking the money back they took the difference in points.

Thats a good idea. Either way it should be re-written. A good guide would want to make you happy. He had plenty of time to notify you of the new promo and change the contract. :bounce:

thanks guys!

If this promo started 10/10 then we had signed already but were not approved yet...this deal came about while we were in "limbo" i would rather them add on 15 points then take from the balance. seems easier for them and better for me!

I will see what mark can do when he gets back from vaca!

How would I initiate a contract rewrite? wont i be penalized???

you guys are great

thanks for all the help!

If you are still in your "right of recission" period under which you can cancel the contract, then you could certainly do so and insist on a new contract.

If you're just banking on the fact that you hadn't "been approved" (whatever that means...financing maybe?) as of the date the promo started, I don't think you have any legs there. At some point in time prior to the start of this promo you agreed to the terms DVC offered. They have every right to hold you to that price, assuming you did not / will not rescind your agreement to buy within the 14 day time period specified.

That said, I do think it's worth a phone call to see if they will be generous enough to modify your agreement. They may very well do it. But be prepared to have your request denied for the very reasons listed above. DVC seems to have SOME flexibility while the contract is still under the umbrella of the sales department (i.e., still negotiating), but once it's been turned over to the accounting / legal side, they are a lot more rigid.
