Just bought DVC today !

We took the plunge ! Bought 200 points @ AKL, with March UY. Getting the 400 point incentive pays for our Oct trip, plus we can bank this year's points for next year's trip !



I did some research on how to pay for the points. Our bank (Scotiabank) will charge us $1.056 to purchase US dollars (which I'm pretty happy with as the "official" rate is $1.049), while my credit card will charge me $1.070. On this large of a purchase, it makes sense to forgo the credit cards rewards, and send Disney a money order (almost costs $300 more to pay by credit card).

I hope you love it as much as we do. We purchased almost two years ago and have tried our home of SSR twice, Beachclub Villas, and have Boardwalk booked along with SSR for our next trip. It was the Best decision we ever made.

I'm sure you'll love it as much as the rest of us!! We are over 1/2 way to our goal of staying at all the DVC resorts!! Still need to stay at WLV(August) BCV, AKLV, HHI and VB - have loved them all so far!!

We purchased at SSR last year and loved our first visit last Christmas. Just got back from a week at VWL. Will be back at SSR this Christmas. Plan to purchase an add-on at AKL in another year or so. No buyer's remorse here!

The minimum you can purchase through Disney is 160pts if it's your first contract. If you alrealy own and are doing an add-on I believe you can purchase 100pts and still get the incentive.

I'm trying to run the numbers for this too! I've been dreaming of this for long before I was even old enough to work so it's just a matter of finding a good time to buy in!

WELCOME HOME It was the best vacation investment we have ever made. We bought back in 2005 and our first trip home was to BWV and second was to SSR. Both were amazing. Going in Sept, just me and DH to SSR for our 15th anniversary and then again in March with the kids back to SSR.

DW and I really want to get on board with the DVC but we just can't make it work yet. Financially, we could do it but there are so many other things we want to do with our home right now and buying DVC points is below a few other things (deck, basement finishing, garage, DVC). We should have the first three done by next summer but we'll hopefully have a little one running around by then and more things will get put on the list above the DVC.

Congratulations though and I look forward to being able to join the club someday soon!!!!

There are a lot us DVC Canadians here! I just took the plunge and bought 150 OKW and 150 VWL through resale. With the strong Canadian dollars, just can't go wrong. Will be leaving for my first WDW trip in 2 days, will sure be checking out both clubs.
