I decided that I wanted to get DH an Ipod Nano for his birthday (12/5)-I checked Best Buy-they were sold out, but would have some on Friday-however, I really don't want to wait in line at 5:30 am. So we checked out Target and they had some in stock. I bought a 2G for $199.00-AND since we opened a Target credit card, got $20.00 off (10% off your first day of purchases)! :cool1:

So...if you're shopping at Target on Black Friday, consider getting a Visa card for that 10% off-it's worth doing it for the big purchases. We'll cancel the card after paying it off (I had the cash with me to buy it outright, but why not save $20.00 ? :confused3 ) :flower:

Make sure to get a protective case for the iPod, because they tend to scratch easily.

I ordered a Nano 4gb last nite about 9:00 from the applestore online. It was engraved free and shipped free. Used the student discount and paid $229. Just got an email that it shipped today. Couldn't find any 4gb units in stock in town, plus our DS is a Target employee and could've gotten 10% off the going retail of $249.

Also, if you're concerned about your FICO score, watch the number of accounts you have. Closed or not, according to FICO the TOTAL can still count against you if above average, even if closed by consumer. Illogical I know, but what I was told by Fair Isaacs.

I just got a nano about a month ago. It was an ealry Christmas gift from my family. My mp3 player wasnt working real well so they gave it to me early. I just love it! I had a hard time finding a place that had one. The last store I looked at had a couple left. Mine is white. Im going to order an Agent 18 sheild for mine. I saw it on the apple site. To prevent scrating on it now, I kept the protective plastic cover on that came on it. I hope you enjoy yours as much as Im enjoying mine. Good deal too! We bought a bbq last summer at Target and did the same thing with applying for a Target card. Saved some money and that was great! :flower:

OP I got my children's at Target as well. I bought them 4-6 weeks ago. I am glad you found one for his birthday.

You are correct! Be careful about opening credit cards to save a few bucks here and there! It will cost you more in the long run - even if you pay off the card immediately. The new account & inquiry will cost you points on your credit score. This can cause higher interest rates if you are buying a house & higher insurance rates (auto/home) now that insurance companies take your credit worthiness into consideration.

Oh, I agree (even though I got the card)-we have very good credit ratings and close out open credit lines-I just thought it was too hard to pass up the extra 10% savings for us. I also bought another $100. worth of gifts to also save 10%-Target had the music clips to put into the Disney sticks for $13.99, so I bought 2 of those and also bought DH one of those FM adapter things to go with his Ipod Nano for in the car. :flower:

I Love the new Christmas background of these boards!! :flower: It's hard not to feel festive!! :sunny:
