I have to figure out how to use as many features as I can. My D80 went on the fritz at Christmas and I've been on the waiting list for the D7000 since early January. Oh if there were only 24 waking hours in a day to practice.

Congrats!! We leave on Saturday and I'll be bringing a D7000 also. Make sure to post some shots when you get back!

If you've been using a D80 then there's not going to be a big learning curve. Its like going from a 2003 Toyota Corolla to a 2011 Toyota Corolla. Sure there are some new buttons in different places, but all things you need to get the camera up and running and taking pictures do the exact same things.

You'll find ISO performance much better. The metering will be better but you don't have to do anything there. IIRC, there are more focus points. The menu setup will be a little different, but in the end everything you NEED to know will be pretty much the same. Do worry about the Video at this point. Just enjoy the camera. :)

Congrats on the D7000!

I got mine on the first day it was available, and I've really enjoyed shooting with it.

Have fun!
