I'm ready to burst. We bought 200 points at the VWL. We looked at buying 6 years ago and didn't. We wanted to buy before the cost went up. Our first use of our points will be this June.
Congratulations and welcome home neighbor! Wow, June as in next month...you are lucky. I have to wait until next year to use my points for the first time at WDW. Enjoy your trip!inkbounc
CONGRATULATIONS, I bought six years ago sight unseen and initially questioned my sanity. Our experience has been absolutely wonderful. We have stayed in accommodations and enjoyed service that, frankly, we could not have afforded had I not bought into DVC. This year's use of our points is a good example. We are booked on a cruise with 290 points (this year's 210 and 80 borrowed). I called Disney Cruiseline to find out how much the package would have cost, for the same 7 day cruise, same date, with the same stateroom category. My approximately $900 worth of maintenance fees bought me a $3700 cruise with $150 in shipboard credits I would not have received with a cash reservation (although I did have to pay a $75 booking fee). I don't even count the initial cost of purchase anymore since I know I can sell the membership for more than I paid from Disney. I have friends that would love to do a Disney cruise but cannot afford it. They are also people who are way too sensible to buy a timeshare. You did the right thing. The only downside is that my son has become a hotel snob since many of his stays have been through DVC. He told me the other day he would rather sleep in the car than stay at a Motel 6.
Have A Wonderfully Disney Vacation!!
