we will be staying on i-drive at the holiday inn international has any one stayed there before if so whats it like ?

im looking for some idea's for restaurants and stuff to do out side the parks as we have booked tho tickets

cheers for any help you can give

thanks kam :earsboy:

I stayed there with virgin in November 2003. If you can request that you are not put in the tower bock of rooms. I was in there and didnt like it. there are rooms at the poolside.

There is a fabulous pool which is heated it is just fab. The virgin staff are on site and this is handy as well.

For breakfast in the morning there is a Ponderosa across the road but the hotel has a wee snack bar which sells sausage 'biscuits'. They are really just rolls and sausage. they are really nice and are only about $1.

The transportation to the parks is great as well. Over all I have no real complaints apart from not liking the tower rooms. I am going back this year and am staying next door in the Rodeway Inn.

Only thing I will say is that i booked it expecting something a bit more special for its flagship 4* rating. At the end of the day it was just an ordinary hotel same as anywhere else.

Outwith the parks we went to Citywalk a few nights they had a dinner and a movie deal for $20 which was great. We discovered that you can almost walk to Universal from the hotel. Ther are lots and lots of restaurants up and down I Drive.

Hi kam
we stayed on the 192 and the old town is a good night out. Saturday night is cruise night where all the cars cruise through streets there is afun fair there lots of places to eat and shop. I think friday night was a night of bikes altogether a really good eve and night out.
WE also spent every breakfast apart from character breakfast at ponderosa we also did sizzler and chinese which was lovely.
When we go next time i am going to do the night shows like dolly dixey stampede and pirate show as we just didn't have the time last time.

Any way have a good trip

We too are staying there in may this year having booked with Virgin.

However, from the reviews that I have read on other sites, they all say the rooms are better in the tower, and I have thus already requested one. Evryone also says that its more of a three star and not a four star and I had thought about moving but the location really cant be beat so we have decided to perservere.

Ill review when im back.

Congratulations on booking your holiday :cool1:

We stayed at the Holiday Inn on I-Drive last year,we were also in the Tower Block. The hotel is very basic and no way gets 4* from me i would say 3* at a push.
It does make a good base for an Orlando holiday though.
As well as the Disney parks we went to Seaworld which was a great day out,and the Premium Outlet shopping Mall is not far from I-Drive if you want to do some shopping,The Dolly Parton Dixie Stampede looked as if it would of been a good night out but we did'nt manage to fit it in.
We hired a car so we never used the I-Trolly we ate at the hotel once, and once was enough the staff were everso helpful and friendly but the food was awful :sad2:
We booked breakfasts for the days we were at the disney parks and they were fantastic,it also got you into the parks early if you made PS's for 8am :cool1:
Our fav places to eat on I-Drive were Race Rock and Sweet Tomatoes oh and for great coffee Starbucks is across the road from the Tower Block of the hotel :cloud9:
Hope the info helps
