I hope it's not scary! I did a search and while everyone seemed to love it, I also saw some accident stories! Is it hard to learn? I don't want to fall and ruin my WDW vacation :(

We also booked all our dinner reservations - Akershus, Teppenyaki, Jiko, Citricos, Crystal Palace, H&V Fantasmic!, and San Angel Inn! I'm so excited now!

:cool1:

you won't regret it!! I did as part of a girls weekend last month and we had a blast!! Its alot of fun!!

Lucky you! I have taken the Segway tour twice and plan to go again sometime. Did you ask about discounts that might be available to you? If not, call back and ask for a discount if you have AAA, AP, Disney Visa or DVC.

The Segway is an amazing machine, but since it's silent and you feel like you are floating on air, I think people underestimate that it is a very powerful machine. You must respect it and follow the rules that they teach you. Actually learning how to ride is easy. I think people run into trouble when they lose concentration. It literally becomes part of you. It's hard to describe. I ran into a little trouble going down hills, it can feel like it's getting away from you. Just remember to lean back and it will slow down.
Don't worry, you will love it! :sunny:

I'm going to be leaning back a LOT! :) I will probably go super slow. I hope the Cms dont get mad at me!

I can imagine that it's a very intuitive thing, that you have to feel it. I didn't know it was silent! Cool! :sunny:

I did indeed get the AAA rate. :thumbsup2

Hey, don't forget your camera! They don't suggest you take pics while you're actually riding, but be sure to have someone take a pic of you on your Segway, with the attractive mandatory helmet! There will be a break when you get to Italy, you can get the CM to take a nice group shot. The groups are only 10 people.
I guarantee this will be a highlight of your trip. :woohoo:

Oh my...I am so jealous! I wanted to do this on my last trip but DDs were to little. But one of these days :cool1: Please let us know how it went :goodvibes

You are going to love it! :thumbsup2

We have been twice too and we plan on taking it again one of these days!

ReninDetroit ~ Can I ask when you are doing the tour? DS, his friend and myself are doing the 2 hour Around the World at Epcot Segway 8:30 am tour on Tuesday, 3/28 (I think from your countdown calendar you will be at WDW ~ the same time we are, we arrive 3/22). DS is soooo excited :cool1: to finally be old enough to do this tour. I hope to take lots of pictures to remember the tour. 31 days till we go back "home" pixiedust: !

ReninDetroit you will love it. It is not too hard to learn. But be careful, if you lean too far back you will be going backwards. Leaning backwards does slow you down, but then you will find you are going backwards. The hardest thing for me to learn was to stay still. I was always leaning a hair forward or a hair backward and moving in that direction, just a bit. Listen to the instructors and practice during your lesson, and you will be fine.
It was a Blast!

My DH, DS and I did the two hour Segway Tour last year. We LOVED it. I was nervous that I wouldn't be able to do it, but it was easy to learn and we had a BLAST.

I would love to do it again someday.

Woo Hoo for you! We just did it last month! Too much fun and very easy to learn. We had many different kinds of people in our group and everyone picked it up easily. The best part is touring through the worlds when it was empty. (I actually learned some neat facts too.)

Don't worry at all. YOu'll do great! :thumbsup2

:cloud9: We still talk about how surreal and memorable it was to glide around World Showcase with only the CM's that were watering plants and setting up their merchandise carts. Now, when I'm at Epcot and I see a CM zip by on a Segway, I always think, "Hey! I want your job!" or, "Excuse me, I believe you are on my ride!"

To all of you guys who have taken the tour already, did you hear any funny comments from the guests that you passed while riding? One man I passed said to his wife, "They work here and are being trained on those things." :rotfl2: I wish!

I also wish that they offered tours for non-beginners. There are quite a number of us who are repeaters. I would LOVE to tour AK early in the morning on a Segway!
Who's in?

I'm doing it Sunday, March 26th at 8:30. We will be there the same time as you, arriving very late at night on the 22nd, but we leave on Monday the 27th.

:thumbsup2

Ok, my huge bruise is finally starting to fade. But honestly, it was sooo much fun! You will love it! Just be careful of that bridge in China ;)

We will be doing it at 9:30 am on March 23 - at the end of our trip in case I fall and break something!

OMG! I'm laughing so hard because I wiped out on the bridge in China too!

I :rotfl: was totally hotrodding and getting overconfident, and my brain said go left and my hand twitched the lever to the right and kaboom! I leapt off and managed not to fall, but the Segway wouldn't turn on for about 5 minutes, and was all stuck in the railing.

It was pretty funny, my husband was like, she broke it! We all got back on and motored back out across the World, it was just so romantic and cool, zipping along.

Some girl wiped out on the little pathway in Germany; she spent the whole orientation talking about how afraid she was of the Segway so the rest of us had bets on what pavilion she would wipe out in. She didn't laugh when she crashed, though. Stuff like that, it's so embarrassingly hilarious, you just gotta laugh at yourself.

I think the Segway tour is one of the best things we've ever done in Disney!

When we were on the tour this monday Larry, the guy running it, said they might be doing a tour with the, get this, OFF ROAD SEGWAYS! We were like, sign us up *right now*! So, those of you riding again, tell them you want to do some off roading. If enough of us ask, I bet they'll add it in!

A few questions:
There will be myself, DH, and 3 kids (13, 9, and 8yo). Is it possible for me to book the Segway tour for my DH to do (someone has to stay with kids) and the rest of us accompany him to the start-off point, wait there for him to return? Suggestions, please...!

No, they have your name on a list at EPCOT at the door and they won't let you in unless you're on the list. You might want to do the babysitting services at Wilderness Lodge called the Cub's Den, I've heard a lot of people really highly recommend it. There's also in-room babysitting.

We lucked out, my mom and dad came down to meet up with us on our vacation so we had free babysitting for that morning-we didn't know what to do with ourselves!

Oh, hey, just re-read your post. If YOU'RE not going on the tour, you can book breakfast with the kids at Askerhaus in Norway, those people were coming in when we were-that'll get you into the park and you may even see the Segway'ers zipping by-we waved to a bunch of people waiting for breakfast over there on our tour.
