I just booked the Poly for my 40th birthday trip in August!!!:banana: We've never stayed at the Poly before. It's been a dream:cloud9: of mine since I first stepped foot in Disney World in 1977, but I could never justify the money. We've always stayed Moderate for all of our trips, but this time we're able to take advantage of the 40% off Military Discount code!!!! Anyone have any insider tips or special things they love to do at this beautiful resort? Ohana is a tradition for our family every trip, and on our trip in September we watched Hallowishes from the beach. Oh it was so beautiful. Anyone else going to be there August 25th-September 2nd? Come celebrate with us!!!!!:goodvibes

Awesome!! We tend to visit the Poly EVERY trip for a meal or something.
It is still on my dream list to stay there someday :cloud9:

Try dinner at Kona's....excellent!

Relax on the beach to watch the fireworks at night.

Take advantage of walking to the TTC for the express EPCOT monorail...the walk is nice and it's quicker than the monorail all the way around the loop.

Also, the ferry boat from the TTC takes only 7 minutes to the MK.

Enjoy your time there.... you will love it!

You will love the Poly.......it's an awesome resort :thumbsup2. One thing we loved doing was relaxing in a hammock on the beach listening to the boat whistles as the boats went back and forth to MK :cloud9:. We love everything about the Poly and can't wait to stay there again :goodvibes.

Poly is a favorite of mine!!
Grab a cocktail and enjoy a stroll around the beautiful grounds:cool1:

Perfect suggestions everyone! We visit Disney about twice a year so I'm just looking forward to enjoying some serious resort relaxation time. I will absolutely grab that cocktail and take that stroll around the resort and explore. I have a terrible feeling I won't want to go back to Mods after this trip! DH is in trouble!:rotfl:

The Poly is our favorite, congrats on finally getting the chance to stay there. We leave next week will be staying there. Can't wait!

Yay! Congrats to you! I leave in 36 days for my first trip staying on site, first trip as an adult (last time was 20 years ago), and first time ever for my family. We are staying Poly also! Very excited for all the conveniences the Poly has to offer. I love the idea of being able to watch the fireworks from the beach. Of course with a 5 yr old the monorail will be awesome. But I have to say, the deciding factor for me was the food! I know you can always go there to eat, but I wanted to have Kona everyday in some form or another. And I'm even excited about Captain Cooks :)

If you like to eat Sushi then I would highly recommend going to the Kona Island Sushi Bar which is located on the 2nd floor of the Great Ceremonial House right by the Resort Monorail entrance.

I've heard the sushi bar is a coffee shop in the mornings. Someone said that you can get the same things they offer at Kona there in the mornings. Is that true?

Yes, it is a coffee bar in the morning. Great pastries and coffees!

Enjoy the Poly for its unique qualities: lush gardens, quiet atmosphere, dark decor and low lighting (i think this adds to the beauty and tranquility). Definitely take advantage of the TTC for a quick monorail ride to EPCOT. Captain Cook's is a great counter service option. Have a great time and happy 40th birthday!

We'll be there right after you. Our trip to the Poly is set for Sept 9-14th. How was Hallowishes from the beach? That's on our to do list! Do you remember what time it was?

Very cool :cool1::banana::yay:

The Poly is my second favorite resort; a very, very close second behind the WL. Love eating at Ohana, had fun at the Spirit of Aloha, fun pool, the lobby is fantastic and the grounds are beautiful.

Believe it or not I've never noticed this! DH is a sushi NUT! He'll be very excited to learn of it.

To JAMIESMITH: The fireworks were beautiful although I will admit the music a bit too low. But It's quite a different perspective. Also, it was lovely to be able to lounge on the beach with a glass of wine while DD played with her new little friends. Wonderful experience! If I recall correctly, the fireworks started around 9:00. Not exactly sure though.

-Have breakfast at Kona
-Watch Wishes & the Electric Water Parade from the beach in front of the Hawaii building
-Try the Luau

Thanks for this! We've never seen Hallowishes (or Wishes!) so this will be our first time :goodvibes
