Just booked the GETAWAY rate at DL for late June

OP here. Glad everyone is getting the Getaway rate!

Quick question, would you stay at the DL hotel in Upper Level or go with the GC Theme Park view? Just curious...

And with this rate I CAN'T change it to a pkg? Has to stay room only?
No idea whether you can change to a package or not. I have had GCH envy for a long time so that is my preference.

I did want to thank you, thank you :worship: for posting this. Don't think I could have pulled the trigger on GCH at the standard room rate ($500-600 a night). Have a magical trip! :wizard:

Glad to return the favor! You have been great with all my newbie DL questions. Can't wait for our 1st trip!

Do you know what the view is like from the Upper Level Resort view at the DL hotel? How is the TPV at the GC?

I thought someone mentioned last week that Getaway travel had in their newsletter that on March 16 you could book the packages at the buy 3 get 2 free rate. Does anyone know if that is still true...is Disney extending their spring deal??

Actually, there was a thread about how GAT was extending the 5 for 3 offer.

I wonder if this will beat my pin code discount that I booked in Feb. Do I mention "getaway" to get the deals mentioned here when I call in?

Yep I just put In june 29th to the the 3rd of july and came up with the getaway offer to. Its about 400 cheaper!!:cool1: this was what I was waiting for,I booked the candy cane In for about 300 cheaper but Its the Disney resort!

I just called and saved $120 off my pin code offer from Feb for 5 nights at GCH in May. Thanks!

FYI - the agent I spoke to heard about the getaway offer, but I think I was the first one to book it through her. It's amazing the power of the internet.

So I just called the Disney Resort and the CM I spoke with knew nothing of this and said it wasn't available. I told him to keep checking because I know it is available and finally he found it. It has to be put into the their computer with out an AP discount and then it will come up. It is a 30% discount and I do not know if you can put tickets in with the room or not, he did not have tickets to the park on ours so if your CM can't get the rate and you are adding tickets have them try it without tickets and then you can just buy those on line and take with you. Oh and by the way I saved 700 w/taxes and resort fees at the Grand from what I had booked last week with my AP discount and with a premium view but when I asked about Disneyland Hotel Premium view the savings was another 400.00 in addition to the 700 by switching hotels, I know Disneyland Hotel isn't the Grand but 1100.00 is 1100.00, and I am a DVC owner so I do stay there sometimes. Thank you everyone for sharing this special.....

Thank you!!!!!!

Thanks for the info on it being a 30% discount!

I just phoned and saved $53 at DLH from my previously booked PIN rate for May, 7 nights. I know not a huge savings, but in my book, every little bit counts!

Are you doing hotel only or package? I seemed hotel only had the low rates. That is what I did. I saw low hotel only rates for all three DLR hotels on your dates.

I was entering it as Hotel & Park Hoppers and for some reason there was no change in price when I did that. I tried Hotel only and you were right. I ended up calling them and we are now staying at the Grand California for a little less than what we were paying for the DLH. Thanks for your help!:worship:

Thank you sooooo much for posting! :worship: I still can't believe we will be staying at the GCH.....never thought I would be able to afford to stay there! I'm even more excited for our trip now :yay:

What would you do?

This is our first Disney trip...and I'm trying to decide...

July 30th-August 5th (6 nights)

Hojo
Kids suite
$139.20/night or $961 (after taxes)

Disneyland Hotel
Standard room (2 queen)
$1495.00 (after taxes) plus $82.80 resort fees: $1577.80

What would YOU do? Is staying at the Disneyland Hotel worth the extra $600 if it's not a suite?

Thanks!

:)

How 'bout a split stay? That's what we're doing this July and we've done it 4 times before. Either start on-site or end on-site.

Yay ~ DD and I will be at the DLH for her B~day! We're doing a split stay ~ our 1st two nights at the DLH ~ $208 + tax & resort fee per night. For now our last 2 nights are at Motel 6 for $50 a night!

Thanks so much for the tip OP!

It is all an individual choice and if you can afford it or not. $600 will go along way for spending but I have to admit, for us, there is something magical about staying on site, but I have heard that Hojo isn't to far away either. Once we upgraded and started staying on site we never went back to any offsite properties. Good luck and have fun whatever you decide.

2 things:

Do I need a code when I call b/c I can't get it to work online for 7/3-7/17.

Can anyone recommend where to buy discounted park tickets?

Thanks

Apparently it only works with room only ressies and not packages. Which did you try? No code needed. It is called the getaway rate.

I tried room only and got the message about choosing a resort.

I will buy the tix separately and was hoping for some inside info on where to get them at the best price :)

Thanks for your help

These DLR hotel rates are very rare for summer or high season. So on the one hand it is worth doing DLH because you likely will not have a chance like this any time soon. If you go off season you I believe you can find these rates. On the other hand you probably should not do it if you will feel stressed about it. Is there something else you can cut back on during the trip to offset? A special meal or something?

Everyone here is wayyyyyyy smarter than I am. ;) I'm going to think about splitting our stay. I have a room reserved for 48 hours and then I have to put a deposit on it. Decisions, decisions!

As for saving money...it's mostly the airfare that's killing me right now--so far the cheapest I can get from home is $2500 for the 4 of us. Or maybe that's just what airfare costs these days! I can drive 4 hours to the US and get a flight for $1400, but then we need to stay at a hotel on the way there (flight leaves at 8 am) and way home (flight arrives at 11) and that just seems exhausting!

I keep looking at the pictures...I love the resort in general, but for whatever reason the kids suite at Hojo almost looks more appealing to me--cleaner and more crisp. But, maybe that's just the pictures?

As for dates...if we go again (which is the plan in 2012 to do the new Cars Land if it's open) then it will be the same time. I'm a teacher so can only go spring break, summer or Christmas (we won't go at Christmas because we'd miss the snow!).

So...am going to consider splitting our time between 2 hotels. I'm not sure I can convince my husband that packing up and moving would be worth it, but I'm going to think about it...and if nothing else I have a kids suite at Hojo for 6 nights and am happy with that!

:)

Thanks again to everyone on here...it's nice thinking my thoughts out loud!

I was going to book online but the deposit is $260. What is the deposit if you call?

Thanks~
Kelly
