Just booked the GETAWAY rate at DL for late June

I was finally able to get it to come up. A few questions...

If I book 8 days but only need 6 can I cancel?

Which of the 3 hotels do you think has the best pool for a 4 and 7-year-old?

Thanks!
They told me I could cancel with at least 5 days notice. So glad you got your res! :)

Lucky! I just entered our dates (July 18-22)on the DL website and no change for us.:sad1:

I did see some standard view rates for your dates at the getaway price. This would be at the GCH, not sure which hotel you are staying at.

Thanks so much! I had reservations for a lower level view room and was able to upgrade to an upper level view room AND save $365 on a five night stay!

Thanks so much everyone. I am going to the site now!!

Are you doing hotel only or package? I seemed hotel only had the low rates. That is what I did. I saw low hotel only rates for all three DLR hotels on your dates.

I just booked the Grand for 4 nights (8-17 to 8-21) for $1,056.00 what a deal

I thought someone mentioned last week that Getaway travel had in their newsletter that on March 16 you could book the packages at the buy 3 get 2 free rate. Does anyone know if that is still true...is Disney extending their spring deal??

The deal I got had nothing to do with that. First, I got the deal for 2 nights and then called to turn it into 3. And second, the "getaway" word was a Disney term and had nothing to do with the Getaway travel company.

What's the disadvantage of going outside of a "package"...what are you giving up to book the two separate?
Every time I have ever checked the Disney package vs. buying hotel and tix separately, I have found a lower rate buying separate. The reason is that buying the package they charge you the full ticket price you would pay at the gate. However, if you go online direct with Disney you can get a cheaper ticket rate than that by $30-50 per person. And if you go with Ares or Getaway you can get cheaper still (by another $5-10 a person).

Further, it is my understanding that hotel only reservations are easier to cancel or modify. The package reservations are more restrictive.

If you buy the package, you do get a few extras like Toontown Morning Madness, priority seating for certain shows like Aladdin, and a pin or lanyard. See http://disneyland.disney.go.com/dis...s/detail?name=ResortPackage2010Page&year=2010

Man I went on the website and it keeps telling me I have to select a hotel even though I DID pick one. Obviously the site must be overloaded or something. Guess I am going to have to call!

Thanks again though for the info!!

I wonder if this is effective as far out as Sept. Good to hear those tips about booking separately, Hydr. We may be able to save extra $ by doing that, with or without this "getaway" deal.

I FOUND it, and I am booking!! THank you so much! Quick question: should I do GC or DLH for a fam of 5 or 5 with a baby in a pack and play? Which is roomier, w/ more sleeping space?

Do you still get the early entry for staying on property if it's not a package?
I've already booked a AAA package...wonder if they will charge me to switch it to room only...

My understanding is that the answer is yes. Someone else who has actually done it can hopefully confirm.

Some people are AP holders who do not need the package - only the room. So for them to get the MM benefit - which I am sure they can - all you need is your proof of hotel and entrance media (AP, ticket, etc.).

You get your "Key to the magic" (room key) and along with your ticket you get MM on the days it is offered. AAA or any package, they can charge you for a change, but probably will not if you are "upgrading."

When you book GCH, the say you can cancel your ressie up to 5 days prior, I am not sure that includes cancelling only a part of the ressie. You may have to cancel and rebook, I would make sure.

I booked it!! I'm so happy! The CM I spoke w/ talked me into the GC, then I changed my mind at the last minute, because I have a feeling those rooms are much smaller (and there is a potential baby coming w/). Hope we get a refurbished room now.

She said MMs are included every day they are offered. There are also a different set of rules when you book the hotel separately. They are a little more strict than if you were to buy a pkg. There is a $50 cancellaTION fee, and if you decide to adjust your plans, it is subject to availability and there is no guarantee that you will get the same rate.

OP here. Glad everyone is getting the Getaway rate!

Quick question, would you stay at the DL hotel in Upper Level or go with the GC Theme Park view? Just curious...

And with this rate I CAN'T change it to a pkg? Has to stay room only?

That was my understanding. I was told that I would have to cancel my package ($100 fee) and re-book a room only reservation because that code could not be part of a package.
