I finally did it. I booked my flights yesterday for a trip in early November. This is the first time I've traveled on my own in over 21 years. :scared1: The real purpose of my trip is to visit my mum in Canada, but I've booked three nights at DLR on the return. It's taken me two months of should I or shouldn't I, and I am a little apprehensive about the whole thing but it's done now.
I feel a bit guilty about visiting DL without DD, but after 3 weeks of family visits I think I will really need to have a few days just to relax and have some time for myself.
I've booked with Qantas and have booked and paid for my seat selection, so hopefully no dramas with the seating like last trip. I'm using ff points for part of the trip as we have so many accumulated.
Now I just need to decide where to stay and if I want to make any dinner reservations.
We usually book at Blue Bayou, but don't think I would like to eat there on my own.
Any suggestions of a good place to dine alone?
I'd love to see Fantasmic, but won't be there during a weekend so maybe World of Color.

I strongly recommend World of Colour - it is quite astonishing! My last trip to DLR was solo and I bought a WoC dining package for Wine Trattoria - which was very good - a lot of food - and it got me a front row standing place for WoC. Which sounds nice - until all that water that goes up has to come down somewhere - and front row was very soggy. You can also order a snack box which you can pick up, go and find your place at WoC and sit and eat your box - but perhaps someone else can comment on the quality of the boxes.

I enjoyed the Wine Trattoria but my other mistake was sitting upstairs. The solid balcony wall was too high to look over when sitting - so if you sit downstairs you can watch the passing traffic.

I also ate at Napa Rose solo - and the CMs were all very nice, the food is wonderful and I took a book to read.

I did a meal at Blue Bayou but I disliked the food and was in and out pretty quickly. The character meals are usually buffets and so you can get what you like and there is the parade of characters for entertainment - all good fun too. I found at Goofy's Kitchen the characters would spend more time with me - but there was always little kids running up and interrupting us.

All up I really enjoyed my time at DLR last year - stayed at GCH which was really relaxing and comfy and was sad to be leaving.

Enjoy!!

World of Color looks fantastic. I did think maybe the picnic option so will have to look at that further.

Glad to hear you've booked. And it will be great experience doing it by yourself too! And time to clear your mind.
