Just booked our room for $59 a night!!

Good deal - Just click on Hotels and then on "Disney World" for Point of Interest. I left dates blank.

HOWEVER!!!

The coupon code is $50 off the total reservation, not per night. If you enter more than two guests, it's trated as extra adults, and the rate displayed will show an extra $10 per adult.

Still best rate I get at POP is only $99 after punching in dates in October (ending in Oct 11). More likely the $59 rate is already gone.

yeah, I know..it's only off the total not each night unfortunately. But at least it's $50 less than hotels.com for those dates. I have a toddler so I don't get charged extra for another person. Like you said, the extra $10 is a fee for a third adult. :scared:

It's still available for hotels.com for dates up until Oct. 11.

Orbitz is screwed up...

Searching for 10/08 for one night gives all values at 59.
Searching for 10/09 for one night gives only *** and ASMu for 59
Searching for 10/10 for one night gives only *** at 71

None of those allowed me to use the coupon.

However, if you search for 10/08 to 10/11 (3 nights) *** rate is 71 per night for all three, but you can get the coupon applied:

*** - Oct 8-11
$213.00 Subtotal
$38.22 Taxes and fees
- $50.00 Orbitz coupon
$201.22 Total charges
include taxes and fees

ok. If I use 2 people in the room, then I can find the $59 rate for ASMu and ASSp for Oct 1-8. Pop and ASMo are higher for those dates.

Total at Orbitz with the coupon applied: $437.13 (7 nights)

Yeah that's definitely messed up. Honestly, I would much rather deal directly with Disney but if it's a last minute vacation the rooms are usually filled through Disney and I have to use hotel sites like orbitz and hotels.com. I don't like having a middle man to deal with. The problem is that if you want to change any on your reservation you have to call the site you dealt with. So I'd call orbitz and orbitz would call Disney. I would rather call Disney myself. I don't like the other site owning my reservation. But to get a room last minute you got to do, what you got to do! LOL

Wow!!! Awesome! That is such a good deal. I'm glad you get to use the offer for 7 nights. I can only stay for 2 nights because of college courses and Dh's work...:headache:

I'm still holding out hope that I get a free dining email.

I also agree with the idea of someone else holding the reservation. I don't like that. I really need to price the discounted MYW package (that is available to the public) because the room rate is cheaper and we need tickets, anyway. If we break even there, I'll book through WDW.

The current general public code is a room at $59 per night and MYW tickets. However as a package, you also get those coupon bonuses... Drawback is the cancellation terms for the package is 45 days in advance, vs, the 5 days or so for the room only...

Of course thru Orbitz you are saving an additional $50 due to the code...

I think Wednesday is going to be our decision making day - at least where the flight is concerned. We'll be 21 days from our travel date and I'm afraid the price of the flight will go up after that. I have a room only ($59/night) booked at Pop, just in case. As of about an hour ago, there was still package availability ... so if we book the flight and that is still available, we'll probably book it to get the lower room rate and package freebies. We'd definitely use the mini-golf coupons for sure.

We decided last week to maybe plan a trip to WDW. Our original Fall break vacation was going to be to the beach. LOL.

I looked at doing the $59/ night deal on Travelocity since Hotels.com didn't have AS Mu for the days I needed, but when I called WDW reservations, I got it for $54/ night with my AP rate. I'd rather book with them anyway so that's what I did and saved some money for a souvie!!:thumbsup2

I, too, would rather make my reservations directly with WDW. Some of the discount online places have different types of cancellation fees etc. I aslo received the 54/night with the AP. There is a General Public discount from Sept 28 to Oct 9 for 59/night for the values as well as many discounts for other hotels.

I called about the $59 a room rate but nothing in any value resort was available for my dates, Oct. 10-19. I have a package for ASSports for $72 a night with a 1 day base ticket and a few freebies with that. I suppose it ends up at around the same price wise.

Oct 11 starts a big confernece as well as Epcot's wine and food festival so Epcot resorts are booked solid.

I found the same rate. But here is also what I found on Disney's site. I found 2 available value resorts for the same time frame (Oct 8-11, 2008). The rate was $99 per night with taxes included. Now if you are driving down and do not need transportation to the resort, the $59 rate is great. But if you are flying and then would have to add on transfers to the hotel, the difference starts to go away.

I have a friend who took a cab from the airport to the resort and it cost her $60 each way (not including tip). That would eat any savings away versus getting the use of DME.

We are thinking about going in January and I found the same rate for a value resort $2 cheaper per night on Disney's site than on Hotels.com.

I am not knocking Hotels.com. I have used them in the past. But deals work out better for some than others since all of our plans are bit different (i.e. driving versus flying)

Just wanted to pass that on.

AFAIK...

Room only $99 price online is without taxes. They add those at the end. Packages do include taxes. In any case, all Disney properties are reserved via Disney. Hotels.com, Orbitz, Travelocity, etc, are all travel agents. They actually make a reservation with Disney on your behalf. Disney is the one that charges you.

And you will still be able to get magical express regardless.

My .02...

Actually...the $99 rate is with taxes. Disney is one of the few sites that does not add it at the end. There is a symbol that shows it includes taxes. The only thing Disney adds at the end of all packages is insurance, if desired.

The only way to get Magical Express added onto your reservation through another source is to add it after the fact. I also know that even on Disney's site...you have to add it after you select the package.

How are you able to add DME on Hotels.com? Do you have to call Disney later? I did not see it as an option.

I stand corrected. I just saw where the DME is added on at the end of the confirmation page. My bad!
