We just booked our 2nd family trip to WDW for next May (memorial day week). Our first trip was 2 years ago with two 2-year olds. It was literally the best week of their lives. I tell everyone it was just a perfect age for the trip. I'm pretty sure we didn't have so much as a single tear on the trip (which is pretty much unheard of for 2 year olds!). We were getting nostalgic and decided it's time to go back! Next year we'll be going with two 5 year olds (1 month before 6th birthday) and a 2 year old!
I'd love any advice on how this trip might be different. I'd say that we toured pretty hard. We hit rope drop every single morning and only took an afternoon break maybe 2 days. I remember from last time the majority of the board really pushed the afternoon break, but we couldn't get our kids to sleep, so we would just keep going. They would eventually fall asleep in the stroller for a nap if they got exhausted.
We had originally made a character dining ADR for lunch every day but after our first we decided to cancel all that we could without penalty. We didn't love the interaction at the restaurants and it was just hard keeping 2 2 year olds sitting waiting for all of the characters to come around. So, we only ended up doing the first two (Tusker House and Akerhaus). The rest of the trip we had counter service/snacks or sometimes a sandwich at our room. We're undecided on what to do exactly for meals this time. We'll likely do one character meal, but nothing like we'd originally planned our last trip.
We went a few weeks earlier in May our last trip which was rated at 5 on EasyWDW CC and guessing based on this year's memorial day week we're looking at 8s next yr. Is this going to feel like a huge difference?
This is going to be our first trip with Fast Pass +. We'll also be doing baby swap on a lot of rides, but we're excited for the older kids to get two rides quickly combining the two!
Our last trip was more character heavy than ride heavy. The kids met nearly every single character. I know they want to do all of that again, but this time they'll also have so many rides they weren't big enough for last time. So, our touring plan may need to be a little bit different.
We are planning for the little guy to have his first haircut at the barber shop. While we're there the older kids can get the color gel or pixie dust if that is still offered
I have our touring plan from last time and then what we actually did saved in an excel spreadsheet for reference.
Comments? Advice? Anything appreciated
