Just booked-need reassurance

Hey All,

We just booked our trip for January at POP and then I saw somewhere that the National Cheerleading competition happens a couple days before we get there. IS there a large crowd during that time or do the cheerleaders leave after the competition is over? I just heard that the value resorts are sometimes overun during that time.

Wow! there have been a LOT of threads about cheer leaders at WDW, and there are a ton of pros and cons on this matter. Apparentley these groups stay mostly at The All Star Sports resort, where they have been known to carry on with their cheering at all hours. They also like to cheer EVERYWHERE on property, with the most annoying spots when they are there are on the buses and boats. That's all I am going to say, because once the cheerleader pro and con folks spot this thread, it will go well into 10 pages!!

We were at All Star Movies or Music during the cheerleader competition earlier this year--all the teenagers seemed to get off the Disney bus at All Star Sports, so I don't think I would want to stay there. Other than that, we have apparently been to Disney a few times during cheerleader competitions and the only way we knew was because we saw a few chearleaders "practicing" their cheers at the parks.

They were very cute, not obnoxious, and not ubiquitous. I'm not sure I would want to stay at ANY resort that had a huge bunch of teenagers staying at it though (see, I remember my teen years all too well! )

Pop warner is in december, the march competetions are usually Universal Cheer Association and Universal Dance Association(s).

we stayed at the all star sports one year together with about a billion cheerleading girls...
they didn't bother us at all....they were all so cute and enthusiastic...and clean cut....it's nice to see so many young people with something that's important to them other than malls and cellphones..

we actually enjoyed watching them practice...
many of them are very talented gymnists..

we're going the 19th -26th- hoping the crowds left over from MLK and the Cheerleading Competition will have left by then.

We were there this year (Feb 05) during, I guess, the UCA dance/cheer competitions. We stayed at the GF, so did not see them there. However, when we were standing in line for Big Thunder Mountain, some of the older girls broke in line and created a longer wait for us. I was TICKED!!! Most of them were VERY well-behaved, though. We are going for the same time next year and hope that we can avoid them a little better. I really don't WANT to go while they are there, but we were married at Disney that week in 2004 (going again for our 2nd anniversary) and I refuse to let a few little girls ruin mine and DH's week!

Hi there!

Last year, we were there during the pop competition. And, it wasn't much of a problem. Mind you, I am very very very very very easily annoyed by children!!! So, you can understand that I am sometimes hard to please. But, I honestly didn't find it much of a bother. I stayed at CBR and there were a few groups there. They were fine! We saw them but there were no extenuating circumstances where it was a problem.

Also, in the parks, you DID see them, but it was dead! I was there the first week of December and we had hardly any lines, etc.
