Just booked my first trip 'home'

I just have to share my excitement. I got my DVC paperwork yesterday, mailed it FEDEX today, and also called Member Services and booked my first trip 'home.' I'm currently confirmed in a 1-bedroom Boardwalk view at BWV for December 27-31, and am waitlisted for the nights of December 26 and 31. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that those waitlists come through - please keep tossing pixie dust my way!

As a side note, can I book elsewhere at the 7 month window (BCV, for example), and stay on the waitlist at BWV? If the waitlist comes through, then I'll cancel my secondary reservations - can this be done? I understand about cancelling within 31 days prior to arrival, but I'm hoping that this won't be an issue.

Also, yes you can book other resorts ( assuming you have the points available ) as a backup plan in case your waitlist doesn't come through. Many of us do this, just in case!

I booked my first trip home in November and just change it to BWV. We are very excited that we got BWV. That was our target.

It is a great idea, this booking 11 months in advance, isn't it? ...until you are done booking and realize...IT'S FREAKIN 11 MONTHS AWAY!!!!
