Just booked my first SOLO trip... I'm a nervous wreck!

I used to take books into the restaurants sometimes. Now with a smart phone, you can use a book reading app and still do the same.

I am due to read the next book in Janet Evanovich's series. :cool1: I think I think I'm on #5? Note to self * purchase book for reading while dining.

Also, AnninIowa just suggested a trip report. Hum... Eating at a restaurant may be a great place to jot down my daily activities!! :goodvibes

Actually, I am not sure if I am confortable enough doing a table service type restaurant (yet). We shall see.....

It might seem weird at first but there are a lot more solo people at WDW then you would think. Everyone who is with someone is busy with their family and not paying attention to who is eating alone. Plus you are never going to see these people again so don't worry about it.

I am REALLY glad you brought up the 'safety note'... I am happy you reminded me (and possibly others that may be reading this) to chain the door. :thumbsup2 I know sometimes all logic goes out the window when on vacation!!

I also request 2nd floor if at a value resort. So that you are not on ground level of EVERYONE walking by....

Whoa Thanks... good point!! :thumbsup2 Glad y'all are reading my post!!!! :goodvibes Do you suggest I fax or e-mail a request? Or should I wait until I get there?

Have Droid, will post, lol. But seriously I love doing things by myself. I had dinner at Jiko by myself and loved it.

I've done a few "solo" trips, but they always include visits with friends who either live in the area or are traveling around the same dates as I am. Either way, you're going to have an AMAZING time! Relax and enjoy getting to do what YOU want to do! I love that I can do whatever I want without having to run it by someone!

My husband is lending me his DROID... I had better start learning how to use it! I will post (if I can figure it out!)... ;)

After reading everyone's posts today... It sounds like I'm gonna have a blast! I am more excited now than when I first started posting this morning!!! :yay:

I think I will start studying the menus and see what suits my fancy... Jiko will be the first one I check out! :thumbsup2

Hum... "relax and enjoy"... I like how that sounds... :goodvibes

Wow! :goodvibes You recognized me from the "Mojito mission" thread? I feel 'special' today!! ;)

I may need your help... I am used to a simple cell phone. The DROID scares me.

Oh gosh. I love solo trips, I go by myself all the time.

I just got back from a solo trip in July. :) I did exactly what I wanted, when I wanted, and was never at a loss for people to talk to when I felt like it. I got up super early to do fun stuff in the morning, then took giant naps in the afternoon and enjoyed several hours at the pool (and the pool bar!), then went every night to enjoy the fireworks/concerts/etc. I met LOTS of nice people and just generally relaxed and enjoyed myself completely!

Have fun planning!

Solo trips seem to be my life. Part of that is intentional, the rest is... well, that is just the the part of life that I'm in right now.

The best part of traveling solo is that you get to change your mind at will. You never have to think what anyone else will say if you suddenly decide to make a turn and do something completely different from what you were planning to do 5 minutes ago. It's a wonderful free feeling. You get to set your own schedule all the time and make any changes at a moments notice. Sometimes I actually say to myself, "I think I'll go this way now just because I can" and turn suddenly and go a different direction. Does that make any kind of sense?

I've been visiting Disney on both coasts solo for 6 years now. While its not exactly my preference, I've still had a lot of great times. Plus, you can really get wrapped up in the Disney magic when you don't have to worry about others. Wait until you see Wishes or Illuminations and you get totally involved in the show and the emotions. It's great!

Enjoy!

I am starting to get the hang of this SOLO thing...

So what everyone is saying... I will be able to jump out of bed (as early as I want!!), get dressed, grab a cup of java and take a walk... WITHOUT disturbing ANYONE??? I did not know that was possible!! ;) Holy cow!! How exciting is that?? :cool1:

I do plan on going to Disneyland someday too... solo. I have to see the WOC some day!!

I've only done solo trips for work (I go to 2 conferences each year) and I LOVE traveling alone. I fantasize about a solo trip to Disney! (Then again I work long hours and come home to 3 very young children and a needy husband! :lmao: ) Enjoy the time with yourself. Follow your heart and do whatever feels right to you!
We met a solo traveler at Biergarten in December (she had the misfortune to be seated at our table ;) ). She said she enjoyed being seated with "strangers" at places like Biergarten and Teppan Edo because it made TS meals a little easier for her.
When I travel for work, I often eat at the bar so I don't feel "weird." I also bring my Kindle along in case I want to read while eating...

It is pretty easy for me to go to Disney solo... no kids, one dog and husband is a great DOG SITTER!! :rotfl: I have never eaten at Biergarten, but forgot about the 'shared' tables there. I may have to try that... hum. We have eaten at Teppan Edo and REALLY enjoyed the company there (adding to list!). Yesterday, someone mentioned eating at the bar. I am actually going to see if I can get a seat at 50's. I bet that place is REALLY entertaining. ;)

Sure did! But seriously, you will enjoy having the Droid at Disney (or any smartphone for that matter).

Are you feeling more comfortable with going solo after hearing all of the comments?

I am feeling SO SO much better. :yay: In fact, I am so excited... I CAN'T SLEEP!

I am making a list of things I've never done, but always wanted to do. I want to see Fantasmic, see Lion King, take a boat from POR to Downtown Disney, eat at the bar at 50's Prime Time (I think people watching will be "Prime" from there ;)), walk around the Boardwalk, and so far that is all that I have written down. :thumbsup2 I may just 'wing' the rest!!!

I can't wait to meet everyone at the 'mission'!!! My flight arrives at 1:00PM @ MCO, so I should be able to get over there by 4:30PM (fingers crossed).
