This morning I FINALLY booked DBF and I's room for our December trip (procrastinate, much??). I was originally going to use my $100 Travelocity gift card I had gotten through...MiceChat maybe?? It was an offer they had going where you paid $50 and got an $100 Travelocity gift card, which I took advantage of, of course. Well, I checked the rates about two months ago and saw that they had the Del Sol Inn for $375 for four nights, and with my $100 off it would be $275 (:thumbsup2) But, clearly I waited too long and the Del Sol Inn is completely booked :headache: I was a little distraught, but was determined to find a good deal nonetheless. I fell back to using Kayak because it seems pretty convenient. Amazingly, I found the Carousel Inn for $80 a night and the total is $350 for four nights. For December, I think I'll take that and be happy, especially since we're going to be so close to the parks!! :cool1:

Now for the real question, how is the Carousel Inn?? I did some searching through these boards, and there seems to be mixed reviews. I know that construction occurred last year, so that might have brought people down. Generally, DBF and I are not hard to please at all with hotels. We stayed at the Castle Inn and Suites for his birthday in July and it was fine, just a place to lay our heads at night :) I'm just curious to know about the place!! I'm sure it's going to be better than the Castle Inn, and we're also located in Tower 1 (at least that's what the reservation says). Anything info would be lovely!! :goodvibes

TIA

We were there last week. The rooms are small, the beds have thick pillow tops and good bedding. Housekeeping was not entirely reliable to come to your room for new towels. The towels have seen better days, but are not ratty.

We were in the main tower, 4th floor, all the way in the back. They have a couple of elevators. But it seemed far when coming back at midnight or later. :rotfl:

We never checked out the breakfast, so I can't comment on that.

Anything you want to know?

I stayed there in March and loved it. The rooms were clean, up to date, and the countertops in the bathroom were spacious.

Breakfast had a lot to offer: juice, coffee, milk, cereal, fruit, pastries, eggs, toast, bagels....it was great!

Hi There,

I actually work at The Carousel Inn and Suites. Iam glad that you have chosen us for your Disneyland Resort Vacation! As you are aware the property has undergone an extensive Remodel which included, New Exterior Corridiors, New Doors with RFID Door locks, a New Rooftop Pool Area and Gym. We too have addressed past guests concerns regarding Housekeeping Services.

Also we play host to the DIS Board Divas Ladies retreat each year! :cheer2:

I look forward to welcoming you to the Carousel. please PM me if you have any requests or need special accomodations. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone!! :goodvibes I think my biggest concern was about the breakfast and the bed. I good sized breakfast would be a lifesaver for us on days we don't have a character breakfast planned, so as long as it's not just fruit and cereal, that's awesome :thumbsup2 And it's always nice to come back to a comfy bed at night, especially after a long day at DLR.

I've heard the walks can be pretty far from the main entrance of the hotel, does that depend on what tower you're in, or can it vary??

It took us about 10-15 mins to walk back (there was 10 mins since we were less tired). There was only one room past us in the main tower. There are the "club rooms" farther back. So, if you have a room back there, I would add another 5 mins to your walk.

Once you cross the street, you turn left on the sidewalk, you pass Tropicana, and then Carousel is next. Not too far.

We're coming the first week of March, and I can't decide if we want to stay there or not. Some of the reviews on tripadvisor scared me away. We need a clean room with a comfortable bed. The breakfast is a bonus but not totally needed (my kids aren't big breakfast eaters).

Can anyone comment on the cleanliness of the carpet? That's a major concern as we have a little one who likes to roll around on the ground.:headache:

have stayed there in the past with no problems , and we are booked there for the week over Christmas , we always stay at eith the Carousel or the Park Vue , can't beat the location and have always been pleased with the acomadations
Cheers

We stayed a week there in May and happily rebooked it for our next trip. The standard rooms are on the small side- if you need a rollaway consider a larger room. That was our only source of discomfort. Beds are doubles rather than queens, so take that into account.

The breakfast room doubles as fireworks viewing at night. Very nice if you don't want to stay in the park.

We've stayed at the Carousel in regular rooms, the Resort Suite, adn the View Suite. My fav is the view suite. But with the recent major increase in price, we have gone back to the regular rooms. The rooms do have queen beds (not doubles) and I love the bathrooms. Here is a link to their page with descriptions of the various rooms.

Iam so excited to see so many of our past guests here on the DIS Boards, I would like to confirm that the beds we have are Queen Size beds. I look forward to meeting many of you and your families personally during your next stay at The Carousel Inn and Suites.
