:bounce: I have just booked a last minute Fly Drive to go this Thursday for 7 days:bounce:

So the question now is where should I stay?

I am looking for advice on cheep (and I mean very cheep) places to stay.

I am planning on spending a couple of days away from Orlando. Any suggestions on where I should go? Is it worth heading down to Miami or head over to one of the coasts?

All help appreciated.

I'd try one of the cheap hotel sites e.g. www.hotelkingdom.com

Can't comment on Miami haven't driven down there - but have visited west coast (Clearwater Beach) and east coast (Cocoa Beach). We much prefer the west coast - as do a lot of others on these boards. A bit more upmarket and warmer, calmer sea. Depends what you're looking for.

Thanks juliebro I will have a look at them now.

Anyone else got any recomendations?

Do you want to try Priceline to bid for an upmarket hotel? At short notice you might pick up a bargain. Recent successful bids have included 3* hotels for less than $40 per night (plus tax) and 4* resort hotels for $69.

This site will help you with advice on getting the best price.

I've booked with the USA priceline site (www.priceline.com) in the past, but others have also been successful with the UK site (www.priceline.co.uk). Not sure if there is a difference between to two.

Any tips for getting the best deals if you just turn up at the hotels or motels?

I think you can get much better rates if you book in advance. I'd be very surprised if you get better rates than Priceline by turning up in person. If you just turn up on the day you might just be charged rack rate?
