Spirit airlines , with coupon MC10,

Feb. 28 to March 13th

For 5

Roundtrip/non stop flights

For.........

$541.50!( all taxes and fees included!)

Hope it helps someonelse out!

Congrats! Sure wish we had flying options out of Calgary like you have:goodvibes

Don't forget to pre-book on line the number of bags you plan to check to save $5 each way when traveling Spirit.

Also Spirit will hit you with $60.00 surcharge per person if you need to change your flight times.

If taking Spirit try only to use carry on.

Hated the Spirit check in process and staff, loved the flight crew.

That's a pretty amazing deal. How does Spirit compare to JetBlue and Southwest?

Yes, thanks... got hit with the "$5.00 each for first two bags" after I booked, but we are still ahead!
With a two week vacation, we will need to check 2 bags.

I am nervous with finding my way around the Detroit airport, (as Buffalo is so awesome!)
But I will just keep reminding myself all the money we saved....
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Spirit flies out of the older Smith terminal at DTW, which is VERY small. I believe that once you get there you go up the stairs to check in your luggage and go through security. Be warned that there is not a lot to do there once you clear security. Last year we flew with Spirit and got there 2 hours early. There is a small restaurant and a snack/newspaper kiosk, and not much else. Make sure you bring something to do for your family if you plan on getting there early. This year we flew Northwest out of the huge McNamara terminal - it is so much bigger! Good luck and have a BLAST!!!

Thanks so much!:thumbsup2

How was parking?? at the terminal? or off site?
There seems to be so many choices??? Yet , they all look the same...
Any advice?

Park in the big blue lot. They have a shuttle that will pick you up,I think the second level is where they are.Last year we parked on the 3rd and had to walk down one level. The blue lot is cheaper then the others.

Thanks!

So parking on site is better then off? The prices all seem to be pretty much the same.
Any savings or coupons?

Parking on site is better.Check the airport web site. They might have a special.

That is a great deal.

Best I could get was $99 US each away for the four of us to go to MCO in March. This is with Southwest Air.

We usually fly Spirit but took Southwest last spring and I really liked the service. I guess boarding has changed a bit since I flew last time so we will see how it goes this time.

As for parking, the airport's big blue lot is a good deal at about $7/day and covered parking to boot.

The cheapest parking I've seen advertised for Detroit Metro has been $9/day (blue lot). Is there a cheaper rate available somehow?

Gary,

I thought the BIG BLUE LOT was $9.00 a day? With 15 days of parking, that $135 ( it was $78 in Buffalo with a coupon for 15 days!)

Doesn't $135 seem high?

The best rate so far was on Spirit airlines site, under airport parking, but it was at a place called Airlines, and was $109, but I need to prepay. It's off site parking, and with not being too familiar with Detroit, I'm a little apprehensive.

Anyone used Airlines?
Maybe I'll just pay the extra to be safe.

Yes, I see it looks like it is $9 now. In early spring (last time I used it) the Big Blue Lot was not officially opened and the rate was $7 ... may have been a special opening rate.

We have parked at the Airlines Parking lot (yellow bus) before. It is the one just to your right as you exit Merriman Rd (sp?) I don't think it is much cheaper now, maybe a bit with a CAA discount but the lot is in need of repair as it had a lot of pot holes when we used it last time.

The Blue lot was nice and close, in fact my son and I unloaded our suitcases and walked to the terminal from our car it was that close.

Thanks Gary,

Yup I'm sold on BBL. I appreciate your responses.

I'll pay extra $$$, to have a covered parking area for 2 weeks, especially if we can drag our bags inside without a shuttle.
Any tricks to what area you parked at in the BBL to be so close to Spirit??
