I just booked our trip (was going Easter week, but had to cancel) for the first week in August. Round trip was 205.00, direct flight. But I'm confused, the flights are on a 757 jet, but they are still calling it Delta Express and this is in August? I thought they were changing over the whole name to Song in May? Can someone explain?
Also, just wondering...is there a snack and soda on these direct flights to MCO like the regular 737 jets? :D

I know Delta is still going through the ramp up process in brining Song online. It's actually hurting a lot of long time Delta employees, especially at MCO since most Delta flights will now be Song, and since Song is a wholly owned subsidiary it has its own staff. Luckily some people who are losing their jobs with Delta are getting picked up by Song but this is after going through the whole interview process and basically starting over and having different benefits packages. :( Anyway, I guess what I am trying to say is not all the Song info is out there yet and not all future Song flights are being listed as such at this time.

The conversion of the song flights is gradually, according to what I've been reading. For example, Dulles, VA is suppose to be the last area added, so won't be part of song until october. It could be also that your area won't be added until later. Just keep watching, though, because what I've read that when they do switch you, you need to go back and make seat arrangements.

Thanks for your replies. So am I to assume that the 757 jets that we have been assigned to could very well be Delta Express jets? I thought D.E. used only the small ones (727's)?
Anyone?

I am sure you will get snacks and drinks on your flight. 757s are equipped with kitchens.
Just for fun I went out to the Song website and selected flights from BDL to MCO in Jan. Everyone of the flights said it was operated by Delta. And, I see not great savings with Song, btw.
I will stick with SWA, the fares are almost always better.

Jillpie,
Delta express used 737 and 757s, it depends on the route.

This is from the main page of Delta Express.

• Look for Song to begin taking over Delta Express routes beginning April 15, 2003.
• Song, operated by Delta Air Lines will provide customers with high quality, low fare air travel.

• Passengers already booked on Delta Express flights will be accommodated on a Song or Delta flight.
• Enjoy the harmonious experience of Song at flysong.com

It appears that Song will be using 757s for their flights. They hold more people.

We are also booked on a 757 in Aug. It was a 737, then changed to the larger plane. According to the Song web-site, the changes in the Boston flights will take place starting in June. The 6th if I remember correctly. I'm just hoping that my seats/flights remain the same. Will have to wait until June I guess.

I was just playing (dreaming) on the Delta website and plugged in dates for October out of Hartford. Not only were the usual # of direct flights (Delta Express) not showing up --- Yes, I pretty much have the approximate times memorized ---- but 'Song' is showing up below the flight #. You might try entering your dates at www.Delta.com and see if this happens. All the Song flights I checked were 757's. There were only 2 direct flights a day, to and from Hartford, vs. the current 4-5.

Then I went to the www.flysong.com site and see that flights from Hartford are beginning in mid-September. The cheapest I could find in October/November was $250. The site said they'll have complimentary beverage service, and I believe I've read that you can pre-order sandwiches for $$$, but there were no details on the website. It did say that by early 2004 they expect that each seat will have their own video screen.

It appears to me that if the Delta Express flight you booked was a 757, it will be the same flight with a different flight number and the Song name. If it was not a 757, you may get the same or different Delta flight or a Song flight come departure day.

Thanks everyone! You won't believe this, but I called this morning (after rebooking the entire trip on friday, 2 days ago) and they not only switched us over to the new Song flights, but the new flights (I checked online) are 144.00 more per person!!!! I saved a tremendous amount for the five of us just by calling on Friday, I just can't believe this. :bounce: :bounce:

Isn't it incredibly wonderful when it works out like this! Congratulations, and hope you have a great trip!
