Just Booked Beach Club for December 2019

I just booked a 45th anniversary trip for December 2019. Well, actually it's on hold for 3 days and I can call back and leave a deposit.
I'm hoping that in July 2019 I can get the Disney Visa free dining for that time.
Has anyone had experience getting that added to an existing reservation?
Any advice? Thanks in advance

WDW only puts certain resorts/room categories in promotion inventory. When the promotion is released, you can check to see if you can modify your existing reservation to something that is in the promo inventory. Sometimes the room you have booked will be available under the promo and sometimes you need to consider switching to something that is in the inventory (if there is anything there that is appealing to you). If you booked a package, it is easier to modify. If you booked room-only, you would need to make a whole new package reservation if/when the promo is released. You can't just add a discount to an existing reservation and having an existing reservation gives you no advantage to getting the discount. If you know you will go regardless, I would book the room. If you are only going if you get a discount, there is no reason to book until a discount is released.

Totally agree with DisneyWishes 14. But one more little bit of advise OP: free dining is typically released in April or early May. So start looking then. If you wait to book until July, availability may be very limited.

Well, I called back but I canceled the reservation. They only had garden view or water view. I don't want to spend the extra money for that and standard rooms are not available. I have had garden and water view before and for us it's not worth the extra money. Any insight to when they might release the standard rooms? I find it hard to believe that they are all booked already for December 2019. Maybe I'm wrong. Any help is appreciated.

Just keep checking. Depending on your dates, it's possible the standards are being held in a group or convention block and that is why they may not be showing up for general public bookings.
