WOW!!! I am so excited!! I just booked a 1 br at BCV for Sept 29-Oct 4th. I can't believe it :Pinkbounc It will be my first trip to a DVC since just becoming a member. I had the points figured out for all 7 places, called MS this morning, told her the dates, and she asked me where I wanted to stay. Honestly, I didn't really care bc "it's Disney", but I said "Ah, check out BCV. I'm sure it's full since it's less than 7 months out, but what the heck". And they had an opening! I really wanted to try it there bc I love Epcot and MGM. My parents are coming and my mom needs a wheelchair (and MGM and Epcot are also her faves), so that resort will be good I think. I can't wait! I have to get a trip ticker....

So my one question, my mom is a recent stroke survivor and doing well. But she can't walk for any lenght of time. MS gave me a number for a wheelchair rental place that can rent and deliver to us. How is it getting around BCV with a wheelchair? Easy (or bumpy??) riding to the boats or bridges? Easy to wheel the chair to the pool area? I just want to make sure I made the right decision booking there. Any help anyone could give me will be SOOO appreciated :goodvibes I really want to have as much figured out beforehand to make it a smooth trip. That way, she'll want to go again! :thumbsup2

I'M SO EXCITED!!!! CAN'T TIME MOVE ANY FASTER???? LOLOL!!!
:bounce: :yay: :woohoo: :Pinkbounc  :lmao: :cool1:

DS uses a wheelchair, and we have never had problems at BCV. We don't usually take the boats, but he has always been able to roll right on when we have. The walk to Epcot via the International gateway is one of my favorite things at WDW-- it is a little bit of a hill, though-- a workout to push him up.
Everything you need is right there at BCV-- very wheelchair accessible. Have fun!

Thank you so much for your help :goodvibes it really made me feel better about my decision! I emailed my mom and dad the web page of BCV and they are sooo excited! My mom said "We're actually staying THERE???" My dad reads the boards when I send him ones I think he will like and he said "Is this the one with the Hop Along Pool?" He meant SAB. LOLOL!! But thank you again, your post was reassuring :teeth:

And you could check the DISabilities Board here too. I believe they have info on wheelchair and scooter rentals there.

We just rented 2 ECV's for my Mom and MIL from Care Medical. They delivered them right to the valet/bell services in front of the hotel and when we were done we dropped them off there with no problems and they came and picked them up. They leave the keys with the valet, so it was very easy. I think it was $165 for Sun 4pm thru Sat 10am.

Both Mom and MIL had a very easy time getting around the hotel, I would say it was only bumpy if you misjudged the ramp from the sidewalks. (My mom always seemed to have a trouble gauging where her back wheels were. It made for some good laughs!)
riding to the boats or bridges?
Not a problem with either, the boat captains were VERY accomodating. At the VWL we were boarding a boat that was already pretty full. There was a 4 in. difference in height from the boat to the dock. They had all the people on the boat stand and move to the left side so we could get the ECV's on. Everybody was cracking up! It was a hoot! But again, everyone was very accomodating.

We didn't take them to the pool but I can't see where it would be a problem.
One other think I wanted to mention, after Fantasmic we waited until the theater cleared out and then started towards the boat dock. We estimated that there were at least 2 boats worth of people waiting to get back to BCV, BWV, Swan and Dolphin. We decided that we didn't want to wait that long so we took the walkway back to the BCV. Well we beat the FIRST boat back!!! It was a nice cool evening and there was no-one else on the path and it only took us maybe 15 minutes. We started our day at 9am and this was 8:30pm and we didn't have any trouble with the ECV's running out of 'juice'! We just made sure we plugged them in every night so we started out with a fresh battery everyday.
I just want to make sure I made the right decision booking there.
You will LOVE the BCV's, you can't beat if for convienence!

Thank you everyone SOOOO much for your help :goodvibes i def feel like i made the right decision now. my mom is so excited for the trip and is working with a trainer at the gym, so i'm hoping she will get stronger and maybe even walk a bit this trip. we went over xmas and it was just so crowded, she stayed in the chair. she keeps asking me if BCV is real bc she can't get over the pics, lol. :lmao: she is too cute! i love the story about the boat and all the passengers moving to one side - that would only happen at disney  which i guess is why we all love it so much! i can't wait to go! :teeth:
