Just Booked AKL for Oct.

Whoo-hoo! My aunt just booked us two rooms at AKL for our October trip! We've never stayed there so I'm really excited to try it out! The rooms are only standard view, but we had been planning on staying CSR or CBR so the AKL is an upgrade in and of itself. Plus, the only rooms they had left at CBR (since CSR was booked already) were standard view so we figure AKL standard view is better than CBR standard view any day! Especially since they're the same price! The CM on the phone swore up and down to my aunt that there were standard rooms that didn't face the parking lot, but I told her, "Um...not from what I hear...." Still, getting to see the animals and the lobby and the pool will be fantastic even if we just have a standard room. And who knows? Maybe we'll get a free upgrade when we get there!

Nice! Enjoy AKL - while the standard rooms do overlook parking areas, I'd personally stay in a broom closet there. We've only had a savanna view, but there are tons of public viewing locations.

I'm sure we'll have a blast no matter where our rooms are located. I'm just excited to get to stay there for the same price as a mod!

The standard view rooms do all overlook the front of the resort but I agree a standard view at the AKL is better then a standard view room at a moderate any day. There are plenty of public viewing area around the lodge and relaxing in the lobby is amazing. Enjoy.

Thanks, Tiffany! I was looking at pictures of the AKL earlier, and I'm in awe of the lobby already! I can't wait to see it in person. I may be rendered speechless! (Quite a feat, let me tell you. ) My aunt is an AP holder so I'm sure that's why the discount was so great, and she was probably trying to book water view at CBR (last time we stayed in Aruba and the beach and pool were literally right outside our doors so we've become a tad spoiled....) but the CM said that they only had standard view left. So we're actually probably paying the same for a standard AKL room as a water view CBR room. But still, a bargain either way!
