I love that movie......good choice.

I just read the recipe on your blog, and I could feel myself putting on 5 kilos just reading it.
It sounds awesome, but I would probably eat the lot!!!
Arent American recipes so different to ours? We would never think to come up with something so yummy!!!
I read some of your blog...you have had an amazing life....mine looks quite boring by comparison!!!:rolleyes1

I remember when I first moved to Canada I had problems with measurements. A tsp here is different to a tsp at home. It's not much of a difference, and no-one here notices but if I use an Aussie recipe and North American measuring spoon it's just not quite the same.

My life is pretty mundane most of the time. Friends always wonder how we can afford to travel so much. It's a lifestyle choice....I'm 40, DH is 36, we have no kids, one car and we live in a townhouse in the outer suburbs. We love to travel so that's what we do. I know for most people a trip to Australia is a once in a lifetime trip but my family all lives in Australia, so it is not an option for me not to come home every 2-3 years.

I am glad you had a good birthday. I really like the food at Cheesecake Factory, but I dont like cheesecake!!!:)

We dont seem to celebrate Xmas like you guys do. There is no Xmas music on the radio.
I think the problem here is that we are such a multicultural nation that all the "do gooders" are so busy trying to not offend the non Christian population that our original traditions are forgotten.
So many school are not allowed to have Xmas plays or sing Xmas carols, Nativity scenes are very rarely seen in shopping malls now, and the whole Xmas time has been sanitised.
When I was little whole streets decorated their houses, but now that is happening less & less. I think that is why I want to be in DL next Xmas, to see Xmas again in its entirety.........
I will get off my soap box now!!!!:rolleyes1

I agree Shelly, as much as I am really looking forward to being home for Christmas, Christmas at home has got nothing on Christmas in Canada/US. I love the lights (not as many home in Aus have xmas lights - probably because it doesn't get dark until 10pm or so), the decorations, the traditions. Next week Vancouver really gets into the swing of things. The Christmas Market, White Christmas and It's a Wonderful Life stage shows, Bright Nights at Stanley Park, The Peak of Christmas on the top of Grouse Mountain, Christmas Wish Breakfast, Santa Parade to name a few.

One thing I am looking forward to at home is Carols by Candlelight. It's non existent here.

White Christmas is my favorite Christmas movie. And I love Rudolph!!

I have been divorced for 12 years, and had not travelled for 21 years. I didnt have a lot of money while bringing the kids up, so we pretty well existed week to week.
Now they are both adults & working, and I have a reasonably well paying job I can finally explore the world.
My family & friends dont understand how I can afford it either, and make interesting comments about how lucky I am, but I dont drink, dont smoke & dont go out very much....so I can save to do these things. I also grab the fares when they are cheap....$985 return was our last one.
As you said it is a lifestyle choice, and I chose to live frugely during the year to have fun for 2 weeks of it.

I love Carol by Candlelight too......I am amazed that they dont have it there...maybe it is too cold??
