We just got back from the Western on Saturday. We are a 50s couple with no kids. We did late seating. We did the Capt. Marvin 3 stop snorkle trip in Grand Cayman and the trolly tour in Key West. We just shopped in Cozumel.
We flew into MCO on Thurs., rented an Avis car, toured WDW and Sea World before going to the Magic on Sat.

If there are any question you may have post them here and I will do my best to help you.

This may seem an odd question, but what dining rotation did you have? My husband and I would also travel without kids and, traditionally, this would put us on LAPLAPL. This leaves us in Parrot Cay for both formal and semi-formal night.

If you had that rotation, did the atmosphere of the formal nights seem to be hurt by being in Parrot Cay?

Thanks :)

Julie

Not a odd question at all. In fact I wondered how I would feel all dressed up in Parrot Cay. Our servers wore their tuxs and everyone at our table were in dressed up too. We hardly noticed the room we were enjoying ourselves so much.
We have been on 4 DCL cruises and had the LAP every time. I like being at Luminaires better because of the activity in atrium and the ambiance but Parrot Cay was great as well.

Russ

How was the weather. Did the hurricane affect the waters at all? How big were the waves? Just curious. Was thinking about you guys all last week. Glad you had a good time.

I can not find the movie listing but from memory, such as it is, I remember;
The Rookie
Reign Of Fire
Lilo and Snitch
Spy Kids 2
Monstors Inc.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding

There may have been one or two more. I will post them if I find the listing.

Russ

Other than Thursday night when we were running from the hurricane, it was beautiful. The wind and seas got up causing some to worry about Castaway Cay. We woke up Friday morning to calm seas and a light breeze. We had a couple of showers each day that lasted minutes but it was mostly hot, very hot. Next time we will go in Oct.

Thanks for thinking about us,

Russ

Hi Russ, I was wondering what time you were allowed to board the ship?
Thanks!
PS..Shadow knows something is "up", the suitcases are out!LOL!

We started boarding at 12:10. Vivian and I were past the ship model when we got in line and it did not take 10 minutes to get on board.
They make your photo in the passageway before you go in the atrium now so it make things go faster. They still announce your name when you enter except now they do a Spanish version.

Is there anything else I can do to help you?

Russ

another question!Last year I was able to "wheel on" a luggage carrier with my soft drinks and beer:p . I saw that someone posted (and the crusie docs say) there is a size limit to the carry on bag. What was your experience?

There was a guy next to me in line that had a case of Bud and a case of Corona on a fold up hand truck. He walked right in. You go through the metal detector before the terminal now.

Russ

Russ,

Oh my goodness...I saw the guy with the corona too!! We had a bit of beer and colas, but WOW...he was prepared for anything!

We looked for you..sorry we missed meeting you. It was a great cruise and you are absolutely right, the weather was great!!

We did the train/trolley tour, snorkling with the stingrays, and then kayaking in Cozumel....so, if anyone has questions about those tours, let me know.

Until next September...

Ginny

Wasn't that a great snorkling trip, Russ? I can't wait to get the video.
One of the other movies was Signs- we saw it Thurs (day at sea). That was a movie day for us- Monsters, Lilo&Stitch, then Signs at night.
We parasailed in Key West- it was fabulous.
I'm so envious of those cruisers who have their next one planned.

How hot is hot? We're debating cruising next summer. With the oldest going into middle school, I think our fall vacations are coming to an end. The problem is, I hate humidity and HOT. Just saps the energy right out of me. Was it bad on the ship - so you didn't want to hang out in the fresh air and sun? Or was it just bad excursion/island visiting wise? You say you'll go back in October - does that mean you refuse to go back in the summer again?

Was the 3 stop snorkle trip the all day excursion? (I believe the times are roughly 10 - 3, including lunch)

Looking forward to that excursion next spring and would like some feedback!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

We were both taken back by the heat and humidity. We are from SC, the home of hot and humid and we were uncomfortable except in a shady place. Key West was a killer as well. We will go in Oct. next time.

Russ

No, we left about 10:15 from the office and were gone about 3 hours I believe. We were having such a good time I lost track of time. We will do the full day with lunch next time. The first thing I did upon returning home was to email Ruth with Capt. Marvin to tell her how much we enjoyed the trip and to say THANK YOU to the Capt. and crew. There is a bucket for tips onboard so take a little extra $ to leave behind.

One more question I just thought of concenring Parrot Cay. You're going to think I'm obsessed with Parrot Cay :)

What night did you have the regular menu in Parrot Cay? Looking at the info I have now, on the LAP rotation, the only two nights you're in PC are "dress up" nights... which usually have special menus as well.

Thanks,
Julie

Yes, it was regular menu on Monday night and a special menu on the second time around.
No, I don't think you are obsessed. I think you are wanting to squeeze the very best of of every minute of your cruise. That is what we did and the very reason I offered to help with the info. Please don't hesitate to ask anything.
