We drove down and just wanted to share a few things with my fellow Disers

This was our 3rd trip to WDW and we have driven for every trip. In the previous 2 trips, we took the 77/79 route, but were curious about the 75 so decided to do it this trip. Well, we HATED it! It took us 4 extra hours, too much if you are already doing a 24 hour trip. We drove straight through, and the 4 extra hours really killed us. We ended up driving the 77/79 route back, and enjoyed the beautiful scenery the whole way.

Gas : We drive a mini van (Mazda) and our whole gas total was $288.16, that's round trip from Toronto to WDW. I am pretty impressed and found the gas in the States to be half price. It costs us about $60 to fill up our van, and we rountinely filled up for $28-34, that's with the gas tank almost empty.

Crowds : Out of our 3 trips total, this was by far the trip with the most crowds. It was insane at times. At rope drop, there was already a line for Dumbo reaching to the Carousel. At rope drop in DHS, the fast pass return for Toy Story Mania was for 3:30 in the afternoon. Soarin' fastpasses gone by 11:00. Never the less, we fast passed what we could and made the most of it.

BTW, I stayed off site, therefore never did the dining plan, but noticed that for the table service restaurants, there were about 50-100 people rountinely waiting outside the restaurants. I don't know if that is usually the case.

Weather : Awesome for our 2 week stay. On our first day, it poured on and off for about 6 hours, slightly ruining our day at AK because it closes early and has the least indoor attractions. Other than that, we experienced the daily afternoon storm, which never lasted long, and never affected the rest of our trip.

Thanks for reading

Thanks. We are driving in 2 weeks so it's nice to have a budget number. I hope the crowds die down a little but since it is free dining I won't hold my breath.

Me too, we're heading at the end of Sept & I'm hoping the crowds won't be bad either. Everyone will be back in school by the time we go.
