Ok, our trip is over already, :sad2: Cant believe it. :confused3

I will be posting trip report, but in the meantime, any questions on POFQ, All 4 parks or Dining questions I will be happy to try to answer. Here is one of my favorite Pix.

How was the weather? Has it gotten real humid yet? We're leaving in 10 days and the last time we were there in June, it rained almost every afternoon.

Linda/MA ,
We live here year round and it still felt pretty hot, only rained two days for a brief shower in the afternoon, starting to get kind of humid.

dawgsgirl,
Crowds were ridiculous every day at MK, but we were able to do everything we wanted to with fast pass with the exception of Peter Pan, fast passes were gone by midday. The other parks were bearable, my DH and DS were able to get fast pass for Expedition Everest, and it was for 30 min from when we got them. They absolutely loved it, (im not a coaster girl).

How was POFQ? Where was your room? Any other tidbits about the resort, this is our first time staying there. We've only stayed at values before this trip.

Oh I have to answer that question. I am going to POFQ in a less than 10 days and it will be our second time there. The rooms all have fridges in them since the remodel a few years ago. They are big enough but not huge. The resort is somewhat smaller than the rest which makes getting around to things a little easier. There is only one bus stop near the front but that is not really a problem. At least it was not on our last trip there. The pool is great my kids loved the slide. The food was about the same as every other resort we have stayed at and you can get pizza delivery to your room.

Just glad to see they're using that Figment picture area again. My DS will be so excited to get another picture with Figment in August.

Katgarbars, The room at pofq was very nice, here are a couple of pix.

This was our second trip to POFQ and we love it, as posted above it is the smallest of the mods, which makes everything close and appear to be less crowded, Mousekeeping was wonderful.

Ladydulcinea1, I was very happy that the Carousel of Progress was running, it reminds me of my childhood when we went to the NY Worlds fair where it debuted, and my parents took me.

First of all, your son looks just like his dad! Great pic!

OK, down to business! We are going in 14 days! It's going to be our first trip there ever :cool1: . We are also staying at POFQ. I have a DS6 who loves to swim. Should I request a room by the pool or do you think it'd be too loud? We are going to be taking afternoon breaks for a swim and rest period and I picked POFQ b/c of the reviews here on the pool and the peacefulness of the resort.
Next question. Do they make you lock your bags in a locker at the parks or can you take them with you? I recently heard that they won't let you take any bags on the rides and they must be locked in a locker. I think it's an outdated policy that was in place right after 9-11 but I just want to make sure. It hasn't been mentioned on the boards so I just wanted clarification. :Pinkbounc
One more question, if you will :teeth: . How is the transportation to the parks from the resort?

I'm glad you had a good time but sorry your trip is over so soon. Thanks for all the info you can share!

Uh oh, just one  more question...what is the must see you would recommend for a first timer? Me 35, DS6, exMIL50. Just us going and we really have a good time wherever we go, just thought since your trip was still fresh you might have a suggestion or 2 ;) .

Vital,
How very lucky for you, your first trip, that is the most exciting I think. Your DS 6 is the perfect age for a first trip, everything will be so special for you all. The pool is far enough away from the walkways to the rooms that I dont think it will be too noisey, but I think that they are preferred rooms, and not sure worth the money since everything is so close. The resort is beautiful this time of the year with everything starting to bloom.

As far as packages at the park, you can take them with you on everything, I saw people with pull along backpacks, as well as every other imaginable type of bag, no problems. They do go thru everything upon entry to the park but other then that there are no restrictions.

I cant really comment on the resort transportation because we had a car, and drove everyday. I know there is a bus that leaves from the front of the resort to the parks, and it never seemed really crowded when we passed the bus stop in the mornings. There is a boat you can take to DTD which is a really nice way to get there since parking is such a hassle there. We did take the boat to POR for dinner one night.

There are so many wonderful things to see your first time, you didnt mention which parks you are planning on going to, but these would be my picks for you with a 6yrold DS.

MK- Small world, Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan, Jungle cruise ( if you ask the skipper he might let your son drive the boat, very cute), Country Bear Jamboree, Snow white, If you like coasters and hes ok with them, Splash Mtn, and Big thunder Mtn are fun. Also Carousel of Progress is fun, and if he likes cars, the Indy speedway is fun, and Buzz lightyear is a hit with the younger set.

AK- Kilamanjaro Safari, if you dont mind getting wet then Kali River Rapids is a lot of fun, again if coasters are your thing, try Expedition Everest. There is a dinosaur ride, but can be scary for some little ones. There is a petting zoo at Conservation Station also that includes a cute little train ride to and from. The Lion King show is a must see IMHO.

MGM- The great movie ride is one of my Ds favorites, if he likes Star Wars then you should ride Star tours (kind of a ruff ride), Muppet Vision 3D is very funny, Fantasmic is wonderful. There is also TOT and RNRC if he is not scared of these type of rides. We felt Lights, Motors,Action was a dissapointment too much talking, not enough action for us. We waited on line for close to an hour, and I personaly would not recommend this show.

Epcot- Although my personal favorite park, is not always a hit with small children. My DS loves it now, but he was younger he only cared about Spaceship earth. Now he does like Test Track, Soarin(wonderful) and Universe of Energy, along with the Boat rides in both Mexico and Norway.

Hope I gave you some insight, and I wish you a great trip. The first time is always the best, especially when seen thru the eyes of a child. I kept reminding my DS about how in Awe of everything he was when he was small, kind of made me sad that all of the magic isnt there for him any more. Me, I have been to WDW many many times, and the magic is always there for me.
Im just a big kid at heart.

Thank you for all your input :thumbsup2 ! We are staying for 7 days so we are hitting all of the parks. So far, I think we may break MK into 2 days so it won't be so hectic. We have park hopper passes so we can do different parks in the evening if we want. I have all of the attractions you have listed on our list! He has been watching the planning DVD and is in awe of Luke, the thrill ride junkie :teeth: . His only requests so far are to ride TOT first and then EE when we go to that park! We are planning on MGM as our first park so he'll get his wish with TOT and I'll see what he's made of early :cool1: . We just got our stuff in the mail today for our trip and I thought both of us were going to cry. We've been planning on this trip for about 7 months and it's finally here! :cool1: :Pinkbounc :yay: . I thank you again for your input.

Love your pics. We leave in 14 days also. Can't wait to go even though I know it'll seem like it went too fast. Getting home is such a bummer. Waiting to read your trip report. All about what a wonderful time you had.

Michele

Thanks for the pics of POFQ! I'll be spending my first night at WDW there and those are the best pics I've seen of it yet!

Did you find AK could be done in a day and did you all want to go back for certain rides again at AK or were the other parks/attractions enough?

Just trying to figure out if I want to do multiple days at AK

So Glad you had a great trip, I look forward to reading your trip report. Nice pictures, Figment has always been one of my favorites, I can remember taking my DS thru Journey when he was a little one, now he's 33, and we are taking his son who is only 4. One question, AK, has the crowd at EE calmed down any, or is it still a mad house there ? TIA,

nightowlky,

We only spent one day at AK but we were there at opening and it was an EMH day, so we did get to do everything we wanted to. We did not go back because we had Adr's etc scheduled for each of our days, and we really only had one extra day and broke that up between MK and Epcot, because we did want to do more things at those parks then one day would allow.

Steamboat 209,

EE area is packed all day long. But we were there early for a breakfast ADR and my DH and DS got fast passes early and only had to wait 30 minutes before they could ride. They did love it though.

I am posting a trip report on the trip report thread, that might have more info that you are looking for. Its the "7 Wonderful days at the world".

if it is so!! then this is great.. never been to PoP.. this will be our 1st !!!

Antss2001,

We stayed at POFQ, not POP, sorry there isnt a slide at POP's pool and the rooms dont have fridges, you can request one though I think they charge around $10 per night for the fridge.
