Arrived home this morning from Orlando.

Among the many highlights were:

1) Expedition Everest
2) Our (albeit short) stay at PBH
3) Being upgraded to Business Class on both the transatlantic flights
4) The weather
5) Dinner at bluezoo (Dolphin)

Lowlights
1) 'The Making of Believe' at Seaworld
2) Soarin' - was expecting more
3) Having to wait up to 30 mins for some rides at Universal & IOA despite guest Express access
4) Having to come home!

Happy to answer any questions, if anyone has any.

Julie

Welcome back looking forward to hearing all about it later. Was Believe not very good?

Glad you had a good time...I was a little disappointed with Soarin too :confused3

How was the driving from Emerald island to the parks...we are staying there in June.

:)

Glad you had a great trip - since i had my eyes lasered i can see every speck of dust and all i kept seeing on Soarin was little black imperfection!!! FOTL was great last year but since they have done away with the Express Machines i thought the lines would be longer :thumbsup2

Welcome Home :wave2:

Could you elaborate on having to wait 30 minutes at USO despite staying onsite? Last year I also found express lines to be increasing, but we never had to wait quite that long. I hope they sort this out.

Glad you had a great trip overall. :)

welcome back..

regarding Soarin, i found that it makes a difference where you sit in the theatre....
we rode it about 12 times last summer and most times sat in a different section (front row, middle row, back row in each of the right, middle and left sections)....
the middle section wins every time (regardless of whether i was in the front, middle or back row of the middle section).....the right and left sections, whether front, middle or back, were not nearly as good....

Welcome home.Pleased you had a good trip.
Coming home is always a low.
Start saving for the next! :wizard:

We saw one of the early run-throughs of the new Believe show. None of the 3 of us liked it. We felt it was far too sentimental for our tastes. Our opinion was that they should leave that sort of thing to Disney, who do it far better, and to concentrate on providing a show which focuses on the true stars of the show - the killer whales.

We were sorry too that Believe seems to have also replaced the Shamu Rocks show - which we also quite enjoyed.

Just our humble opinions.

Having been blown away by the experience of Expedition Everest, and still being amazed by Mission: Space and The Mummy, we had high expectations of Soarin'. To us, it was just a 180 degree screen with suspended seating that moved a bit. Sorry - but maybe our expectations had been far too high. The standby queues were exceeding 100 minutes - fortunately we had got Fastpasses earlier in the day - else we would have felt even more disappointed.

It was Easter, and the crowds were huge, especially at IOA. We felt that the staff were struggling to cope with the sheer volumes of people trying to get on the rides. In particular, the Express Return and Standby queues were too close together for the Hulk and ended up merged as the lines grew longer, because the staff weren't proactive enough in ensuring they were kept separate. There are no Express machines anymore. The only people who can get Express access are those staying in the hotels - of which we were told over Easter there were 7000 people! - and those who are prepared to buy Express tickets. If you buy them , you are only supposed to use them once for each ride. We saw blatant abuse of this by many many park guests - and it appeared to be condoned by the park staff - who seemed unwilling to challenge the people involved. Again - I think it was due to the volumes of people who were trying to get on each of the rides.

Great - much quicker than from where we have stayed sometimes in the past - off highway 27. Traffic was bad on the 195 - but it was Easter - so we got up and out early before the rush.

ps Although it may sounds as though I'm moaning (based on all the above), I'm not really - we had a great time!

Welcome home, glad you had a great time!

My question is, how did you get upgraded to business?!!!! Please tell me you know some secret code word and if so, can I convince you to share it?? :teeth:

No secret codeword involved. The flights were overbooked, which we found out by asking the ticket desk at the airport. We then let it be known that if they needed some people to be flexible and travel the following day - we would be prepared to do so. As it turned out - not everyone turned up for the flights, and so they didn't need us to offer up our seats. They then upgraded us, to thank us for our flexibility. This happened on both outgoing and returning flights.

It's a risk. Sometimes it pays off. Sometimes it doesn't.

I'm not sure that they would do it if we had young chidren. DS is a teenager and knows how to behave himself in business class!
