I just got back from our quick trip to WDW and Universal. We stayed two nights at the Wyndham Palms and three nights at Royal Pacific at Universal.

We arrived at the Wyndham Palms at about 11:00 a.m. last Friday. We were able to pre-register, but could not check in until 4:00 p.m. We were meeting relatives at Epcot, so we headed over there for the afternoon.

Our room at the Wyndham Palms was very nice. It was over 1,500 square feet. It had two bedrooms (one with two double beds and one with a king size bed), two bathrooms, jacuzzi tub, full kitchen, washer and dryer, sofa bed, 52 inch tv and a screened in porch. We were in Building 26 on the 4th floor. I am a Wyndham By Request Member and there was a bottle of wine in the fridge, plus chocolate chip cookies and a bottle of Aquafina. Very nice touch.

We were there two nights and did not use the pool.

I thought the complex was very nice, but I didn't really like the 192 area - I prefer the Crossroads area near Downtown Disney a lot more.

I have never stayed off site before. We were meeting relatives and they had to find something roomy and reasonable.

I doubt if I would stay offsite again. It was fine, but it wasn't the same.

If anyone has any questions, I'd be glad to try and answer them.

FYI -- Access to WDW was very easy from the Wyndham Palms.

We loved the Royal Pacific. I will post about that on the Universal Board.

We are at the Wyndham Palms in November and I am glad to know you liked the facility.

How exactly did you get to WDW from it?

Thanks for the info.

How exactly did you get to WDW from it?
We have found that the quickest way is to take Old Lake Wilson Road (545) (the main road from the WP entrance) to 192 and take a left at the light from the second to left lane, which allows you to take a right at the next light, which is Sherberth. Very soon you will see the Tree of Life at AK over the trees in front of you. Follow Sherberth (it winds around a little to the left) until you get to the first traffic light, and you will take a right at this light. This takes you right next to the exit (and then the entrance) to AK. From there, you can follow the signs to whichever park you want -- you will be very close to any of them.

Have a great trip!

We are headed to the Wyndham Palms tomorrow. Is it difficult to get to the Island of Adventure from here? Thanks for the info on directions to WDW. ALso, were you pleased with the view from your room? I am concerned that Hotel Kingdom guests(b/c of the cheap rates) would be on the bottom of the totem pole when in comes to the best views/rooms.

Any more info on the Palms would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Our view at the Wyndham Palms was looking at a kind of marshy area. An open field, really. It was not terrible, nor was it beautiful. We booked through hotelkingdom.com and received a room in a new building (building #26). It had only been open two months. It was quite nice. We could not walk to the pool (especially in that heat). We would have driven the car had we wanted to use the pool.

To get to WDW, we took a left out of the complex onto Old Lake Wilson Road and then a right at 192. We stayed in the right hand lane and exited at the sign to WDW. It was quite easy.

The travel time to Islands of Adventure (via I-4) would take at least 20 minutes, perhaps a little longer, depending on the time of day.

No, you just go down I-4 East to exit 75 A and follow the signs to Universal. It was around 12-15 miles from the WP.

We were in building 14 and had a nice view of the 8th hole.

Have a great trip!

Just returned from Wyndham Palms. Had a great time. The rooms were great and the property was first class. Also, very close to WDW. Made it to parks in less than ten minutes every day. Thanks for the great directions!

We stayed at this property for 8 nights Sept 02. It was nice enough, but was disappointed that maid service was not included. Now planning our 12 day trip for Sept 04 and I will not choose a time share property again.
