We just returned from 8 nights at the WL, our first time there.

We'd booked a standard room, but I suspect we ended up with an upgrade.

My two kids hoped for bunkbeds; I asked at check-in and they happened to have a room available. It was 1153, first floor, but it turned out to be a great spot. We had an inner-courtyard view, right near the pool. Great to look out on in the morning or afternoons, and to call in my kids from the pool area. (BTW...it was not noisy at all in the evenings; security patrols kept those in the pool quiet late at night). We were a short walk to the food court and the lobby. No worries about bus transportation as we had our own car, but on the one day we used the bus to get to MK for an early breakfast we were just a short walk from the bus area.

I am an early riser, so the lobby was my restful area of choice every morning with my coffee and newspaper/book while my family dozed.

We did only some breakfast and snacks at the foodcourt and while it was smaller than most, it was perfectly adequate for what we needed.

Despite the enormous size of the space, it feels cozy and warm. Having cast members welcome us home each day was a joy.

We'll definitely stay there again!

We also just returned yesterday from a three day stay at the Wilderness Lodge. We had booked a standard view with AAA discount. I had requested an upper floor which was granted, got the 6th floor (7th is Club level). Inquired about an upgrade to Club level but they wanted $160 per night so we passed.

Be aware many of the stadard rooms overlook the service areas and dumpsters. Our room did and we were awoken a couple of times by the truck traffic early in the AM. The plus was that we had a good view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks from our room.

Parks were not too crowded considering it was Labor Day weekend. Had great dinners at Artist Point and the California Grill. Our dinner at the at the California Grill was over before the fireworks but they let us return later to the observation deck - great view 15 stories up!

This is exactly how we felt about the Wilderness Lodge :sunny: We LOVED relaxing in the lobby, late at night. We're night people, so the lobby was our area-of-choice for a bit of unwinding after a long day :cloud9:

Thanks for the review, and glad to hear you had a great time :flower:

So the bus is still available to take to MK?
Yes, and my understanding is that the bus service begins at 7am. We picked up a bus around 8am for 8:30 breakfast at Crystal Palace and had no problems at all.

There is a resort launch (boat), to the MK, but that doesn't begin to run until about a half hour before official opening; it generally won't work for early breakfast reservations at the MK (those before the park opens). The launch also services Fort Wilderness so it is not always the quickest option but it is a nice boat ride; we took it back to the Lodge the day we had bussed in to MK.

Thanks for the info. We have ADR at CP before MK opens so it's good to know we need to take the bus.

Glad you enjoyed the Lodge.

We too are amazed at how cozy the lodge feels. The lobby is such a wonderful place to catch a cat nap.
