We just returned from a long weekend at WDW -- Thursday through late Monday. Interestingly, the resorts and parks were not as busy as we expected. It wasn't just our perception either. We heard this from CM's at Pop (She said they were moving into their slow season at the values.), WL (He thought more FL residents would have jumped on the removal of the blackout dates.), tour guide at MK (She couldn't explain why crowds were so low at MK on a Saturday!!), etc.

At our resort, the main pool was very busy; but not as crazy as things were during our may visit to WDW. Nearly all of the VWL were lit at night, so I would assume that they were nearly full to full. The WL was a different story. We were upgraded from a standard to an absolutely fantastic woods view. Although we were only in our room one night at the right time, we could see the MK fireworks!! It seemed really strange walking down a hotel hallway with so many empty rooms. However, it made for WONDERFUL housekeeping!! We also received towel animals each day.

I did notice on our last day that the crowds in the parks (Epcot and MGM/DS) were much larger than on the previous days. I'm not sure if it was simply because it was the beginning of the week or something else. In the Sentinel on Monday, I saw that some schools in the region were going back this week, so perhaps some of you will experience the low crowds we found.

We always go in July either the first two weeks or the last two weeks depending upon where we are withthe AP--new or expiring. I have always found that the last two weeks of July are usually the least crowded of the two scenarios. Often we spend time at a water park and meet many FL residents that last week of July that are just wrapping up summer vacation with the kids at the waterpark. Seems so funny from my Northeast perspective of Summer just started! Perhaps International travel is down a bit after the recent incidences in Great Britain?

It's interesting. Friends just returned from the Poly and said the exact same thing. When they made their reservations they were told that rooms were almost sold out. They said several rooms near them were vacant the entire stay. Maybe things are slowing down since school is starting soon.
