My DH, DS, Mom, Dad and I were at VWL 1/19-1/22 and VBV 1/22-1/26.
The WL was wonderful as always, we had a 2nd FL 2B facing the walkway to the lodge and busses. We ate at Artists Point and Whispering Canyon, both were great meals. It was really cold so we only swam once and the hot tubs were very popular. The only dissappointment was not being able to go on the Lodge tour, although it was listed for that day on the activity schedule, when we arrived they said it was cancelled, I don't know if we were supposed to have signed up prior.
This was the first time we had a car so we went to Universal Studios (no where as nice as Disney parks!) and stopped to see Celebration on our way to VB.
We were unlucky that FLA was getting the coldest weather in 2 years while we were there, so we only got to swim in the pool once and it was really windy and cold on the beach but it was beautiful!
I requested a view of the ocean and our 2B, Room 1535, had great side views from the MB and porch. The room didn't seem very clean and we were missing several utensils as we were at WL also. We were also shorted on shampoo and soap in the 2nd bath.
The toilets had very low water levels and had a hard time flushing completely, the dishwasher rack would not roll out at all, and most stations on the main TV were fuzzy.
The most dissappointing were the restaurants. At Shutters, my Mom's pork chop was rancid (they did not charge her and offered something else) the Mickey pancake my son received had no face on it like they do at other resorts (all they had to do was plunk on a couple cherries), Service was very slow even though there were only a few people there (we had to wait for our beverages every time we ate there) and none of the food was up to par with what we had come to expect from Disney restaurants.
My DH and Dad had the Seafood Buffet at Sonyas and thought it was awful! There were few choices, nothing tasted good and there was only one small dessert choice (these guys are not hard to please either!) We had pizza that night from Bleachers and it was OK, but the crust was really hard and my DS wouldn't eat his. It seemed to us that the chef in charge of food at VB could care less what his customers think of his food. On the other hand, the drinks from Bleachers were great, they made them nice and strong to help us stay warm!
My DS loved the Discovery kids club, he was the only one that night so he got 2 teenage girls to himself, they biked, colored, watched a video and gave him dinner.
There was a selection of activities each day that was announced on the TV and on a schedule they left on your door, but it would have helped to find out the activities further ahead of time since I plan further ahead than the day of. I wish my son would have been able to go to the unbirthday party, but they only did it on the day we had planned for Cape Canaveral.
Still, we enjoyed the campfire sing along with Smores, the mini golf, searching for shells on the beach, sitting in the hot tub with a great drink, and renting a video with a pizza on a cold night.
One last thing... here are some great restaurants in Vero Beach: The Patio, The Red Garlic Bistro, and The Quilted Giraffe (fancy). Here are some great places to go: Kennedy Space Center, Mel Fisher Treasure Museum, Sebastian Inlet State Park, Hale Citrus Grove store, McKee Botanical Garden, Ron Jon Surf Shop in Cocoa Beach.
Any other questions?
