We just returned yesterday after a week of stuffing our faces at all our favorite places.

Saturday: Arrived in WDW in time for dinner at Artist Point. We shared the Crispy Venison Spring Rolls for starters. They had a little bit of a kick and were very good. I had the Cedar Plank Roasted Wild King Salmon - delicious! The other OldPooh had the Grilled Buffalo Sirloin Steak with sweet potato-hazelnut gratin and sweet onion jam, which was also very good. We shared the Valrhona Chocolate Truffle Cake with Soarin' Honey-Blood Orange Coulis for dessert -- it's very rich but oh so good!

Sunday: Lunch at Brown Derby. We shared the Coconut Shrimp appetizer. We have to eat lunch at Brown Derby on every trip, and I have to have the Coconut Shrimp appetizer. I do not like coconut, but this dish is one of my favorites. For entrees, I had the Sesame-Seared Yellowfin Tuna Cobb and the other OldPooh had the Pan-Fired Grouper, which is probably his favorite dish. Both were very good. For dessert we shared the Happiest Celebration offering, which was so good.

Later in the evening we went to Epcot and sampled some Food & Wine dishes. Our favorites were the baked ziti from Italy, the tenderloin beef from Australia and the crab cakes from the USA booth.

Monday: Breakfast at Boma. This is another one of our "must-do's" for each trip. We think this is the best breakfast buffet on property. However, buffet meals are just not the best option for us anymore; we can no longer eat enough to justify the price.

Tuesday: Lunch at Le Cellier. I had the Shrimp Cocktail appetizer (love the presentation!) and the Grilled Petit Filet, which was cooked just right and was very tender. The other OldPooh had the Cheddar Cheese Soup and Calgary Maple Barbecue Chicken Sandwich topped with Canadian bacon and Black Diamond cheddar cheese. We shared the Happiest Celebration on Earth Chocolate Whiskey Cake dessert, which was light and yummy.

That evening we sampled some more Food & Wine dishes (and had to have some more ziti). We didn't care for the Tortilla (Spanish Potato and Onion Omelet) from Spain. I had the Maple Glazed Salmon from Canada, which I thought was good, but not extraordinary. There were many dishes we wanted to try, but we were so stuffed from lunch that we had to pass them by.

Wednesday: Breakfast at Boatwrights. The other OldPooh had the Sweet Potato Cakes, which he declared delicious. I had plain pancakes.

Dinner at Jiko: Our server was Lita, who was delightful! We started with the Kenyan Coffee Barbecued Chicken Flatbread. I had been looking forward to enjoying this again, and was not disappointed. For entrees, I had the Braised Lamb Shank and the other OldPooh had the Beef Short Ribs. The lamb was very good, but the portion was huge! As hard as I tried, I could not finish it. The other OldPooh, though, cleaned his plate. The short ribs were divine! It came with Idaho and Sweet Potato Gratin. Now, the other OldPooh has this intense aversion to potatoes au gratin. (I think his mother made him eat them every day when he was a kid.) But he could not stop talking about how good this dish was. We did not have enough room for dessert, and waddled out of there completely satisfied.

Thursday: We had tickets for the Halloween Party that evening, so we slept in and headed over to the Magic Kingdom mid-day. We stopped at the Main Street Bakery for coffee and cinnamon muffins. We had dinner at Crystal Palace. I like the food at Crystal Palace. I like the assortment of salads and the grilled vegetables and the salmon. There's a lot to choose from, and I think there's something for everyone.

Friday: Breakfast at Kona Cafe. I had the Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes, which were so good! The macadamia nuts were cooked right in the pancakes (rather than just being sprinkled on top), and I enjoyed the crunchiness. The crushed pineapple on top added a delicious sweetness to the pancakes. The other OldPooh had the Eggs Benedict.

We had originally planned to return to Epcot for dinner to try the Food & Wine dishes we had missed. But all the food we had consumed all week finally caught up with us and we just weren't very hungry. We found ourselves in the Land around dinnertime (that's when we returned with our Soarin' fastpasses), so we decided to eat in Seasons. I had the salmon (which was okay) with a side of (glazed?) carrots (which was supposed to be warm but was cold and unappealing by the time we made it through the checkout line). The chocolate-chip muffin we shared, however, was so good and more than made up for the carrots. The other OldPooh had some sort of noodle thing with chicken and vegetables which he enjoyed.

Saturday: Up early. Breakfast in the food court. Time to go home and back to reality. :sad1:

Any questions? :wave2:

Thanks for the reviews. It sounds like you had some delicious meals. I'm adding Artist Point to our list for our next family trip. My sons both love salmon so I think they'll enjoy AP. :)

Thanks for your reviews.

What you and the other old Pooh ordered is exactly what me and DH plan on ordering at Artist Point when we eat there on Oct. 29th.

I have 2 questions...were the venison spring rolls very gamey? Was the salmon very fishy? I have had some very good salmon and some not so good salmon that was so fishy that it was plain nasty.

Hi Annie,

We really enjoyed our meal at Artist Point. We didn't think the venison spring rolls were gamey at all and the salmon was very good and not fishy. It was a great beginning to our vacation. I hope you enjoy it as well!

We also loved the deserts at Seasons at EPCOT!!

We got mac n cheese for kids and dh and I shared a flat bread steak thing that was good...we loved the foods there but have to admit we agree with the desert thing!!

lots of choice and the brownie!!! MMMMMM

Thanks for taking the time to post your reviews. I really enjoyed reading them! It sounds like you had some great meals. I think I am going to have to try the Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes at Kona. They sound yum!

I want to know the same thing, please. :)

He said "they were not the best I ever had. They were okay, but nothing spectacular."

But he cleaned his plate, anyway. :teeth:

Really detailed review...thanks so much for sharing!!! My stomach is GROWLING!!!! :wave2:

Enjoyed reading your reviews ~ Thanx for posting.

I enjoyed reading your reviews too! Hope to have dinner at Boatwrights for the first time over Thanksgiving and kind of want to try those pancakes but afraid I won't like them.lol I think I need to smell them first!lol

Thanks for your reviews...I am getting more guts to try the Buffalo at Artist Point. I've never had buffalo before, but everything I've read about it there indicates it is very good but you should eat it on the rare side or it gets dried out...I'm a medium fan when it comes to steaks. Do you have any comments on the buffalo concerning the "doneness factor"?

Also, thanks for the two cents on the macadamia nut pancakes...been wondering about that pineapple sauce on them...was contemplating asking for it on the side, now I think not.

Thanks again! I appreciate your reviews!

Thanks for your reviews!! Those macadamia pineapple pancakes sound so yummy!! My mouth is watering-- and I just ate lunch!! :earboy2: I wonder if we'll be able to slide into Kona for breakfast on our next trip!

I'll comment on the Buffalo doneness factor. We eat alot of Buffalo as we have an excellent Buffalo farm nearby. I would not go past medium-rare. It does get tough past that point as it is very lean (less fat than chicken, believe it or not) Eaten rare or even medium rare, it is fork tender tho. The Buffalo at Artist Point is fantastic. Please don't be nervous to try it. It is not a gamey meat at all. It's really just a richly flavored, lean beef. Once you try it, you may find yourself as hooked as we are.

Thanx for your reviews. I loved them. I am just dying to try that pan-fired grouper. Maybe next trip.....

pirate: Thanks for the reviews. We were at WDW a couple of weeks ago. And I still can't get back to reality!!! :rotfl:

The pancakes were topped with crushed pineapple. If you don't care for it, you can easily push it off to the side. Also, forgot to mention it's a big serving - I couldn't finish it all. Yum. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. :rotfl: (Or is it because the novocaine is wearing off after my root canal today? Talk about getting back to reality ... )
