Just Back - What I learned

Glad you had a good time!

Did you do rides at MNSSHP - if so, which ones and how were the lines?
How did the park feel crowded, medium, etc.
How did the restaurants seem?

We rode almost everything last night and there were no lines at all. Everything was a walk up. Went on Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, PoTC at least 4 times each.

We watched the fireworks from main street and it was not crowded at all!!

We noticed no lines for rides either but only chose to ride BTM at night so my mom could experience that.. it is so different at night then during the day.
but any line we could see seemed to be a walk on with no lines!

Hey Minnesota...since you said ask questions about MNSSHP and NoJ, I'm going to assume you did MNSSHP on Friday and NoJ on Sat?? That's what we did. MNSSHP was terrific, as usual. Not nearly as crowded as it could have been. My dd and I didn't do a lot of trick or treating though.
Now, NoJ was a whole different animal. Going to that was my biggest WDW error in judgement to date. When our bus, from POP, pulled into the DHS parking lot, and I saw the huge number of charter buses there, I should have just stayed on the bus, and gone back to POP!!! I have never seen so many ill-behaved, obnoxious teenagers in one place in my 59 years!!! The 40 min wait to get on ToT was a nightmare.....all those screaming, shrieking girls...and that was before we even got on the ride!! My dd, almost 15, just stood there, in shock. She told me that it was a 'what not to do' moment for her.
My dh left shortly after that..he just couldn't handle the huge groups of unsupervised teens. Everywhere we went, it was shoulder to shoulder people. Even my step-granddaughter, who is 20 and comes to NoJ (from Tampa) for the music was amazed at the numbers. She said there were overly long waits to get into the various music venues...sometimes up to 45 mins or so. She said that Friday night wasn't nearly as crowded and that she was really glad she and her friend had done mostly concerts that night, waiting to do some attractions with my dd and me. My dd and I finally called it a night at about 10:30. We had looked forward to staying later, but just couldn't deal with the kids.

There were some groups that were pleasant to be around, but they were definately in the minority. NoJ is nothing I will ever do again, never!!!

We went last night to MNSSHP. We actually went in yesterday morning at opening. There were no lines for any rides. We rode splash mtn 3 times in a row without getting off. Same with thunder mtn. We got fast passes for rides and never used them.

MNSSHP
Not crowded at all. They are charging for strollers this year. That was a disappointment as it costs $31 for a double. They could at least discount the price for the party since you aren't using it all day. We had held off on renting a stroller telling the kids we'd get them one for the party since they would be up so late.

The longest line we had was five minutes or so to see Jasmine. We rode thunder mtn 5 times without getting off. All in all, by the end of the day, we rode thunder mtn at least 10 times, splash at least 8 and space mtn at least 6 and never had to wait in line for any of them. We got a spot on the curb for the 10:00 parade about 10 minutes before it started, right on Main Street. We hit all the candly lines but we did not leave with full bags. I'm sure we could have if we had gone back through some of them or stayed right til closing but we have kids ages 4 and 7 and my dh is diabetic so we figured we had enough. They did give out giradelli bars as we left which I quickly took away from all other bags since they're my favorite. All the other candies were mini sized.

It was our first time at this party. We've always done MVMCP in the past. For low crowds, this was better. I still enjoy the shows better for Christmas. I think the number of hurricanes recently might have had something to do with low crowds, I don't know. We've been this time of year many times and this might be the lowest crowds I've seen in a while, maybe since '01.

I wish they would have kept colombia harbour house open later for dinner. We were disappointed to find it closed at 5. We went to Pecos which was so deserted the cast members were dancing in the line area.

All in all, we'd do it again, which is saying a lot b/c dh doesn't like doing the parks. He said he's really enjoyed this trip since he hasn't had to stand in line a lot.

I'm from New Jersey and no matter where I've stayed in any hotel, I've always put the towels on the floor. But, like you said, regardless of where you leave them, the Mousekeeping should know to replace the towels! :sad1:

I love that bag! Gotta get one!!!

About the CD ~ I thougt last year I read they were selling MNSSHP music at the party only...but you can buy this theme music cd all the time? Can anyone tell me where to get it?

TIA!

Oh ~ to the OP ~ do they still let you in at 4pm, and do they still give out complimentary strollers?

I know I saw the "Party Music" CD in the gift shop on main street. If you're walking out of MK it's the big gift store that connects on your right. If I remember correctly it was with the other CD's and DVD's in a stand toward the middle of the floor in I believe the room that sells the stationary and photo albums. Good luck!

Hi again!

Since several of the replies have been gearing to the same subjects and I have been working/at class for 13 hours straight now I'm not going to go post by post this time.

For the mousekeeping at POR: I never noticed anything out of place in the food courts or in out room. One night the beds weren't made to the typical disney level but we always had clean towles (we too could tell by the makeup) we even got a few towle animals on our table. The mirrors were cleaned every day too except for the "Be happy" sign we left on one mirror but you could see where they cleaned around it. Maybe it's hit and miss on the mousekeepers??

For Night of Joy: Yes, we did MNSSHP on Friday and only one night of NOJ. NOJ is a WAY different animal than the MNSSHP. We didn't even attempt any rides, we were there for the concerts. Because of a late dinner we arrived at the party later and didn't run into too many crowds until we got in lines for the stages. You deffinetly had to leave your personal bubble at the gate but the teens I ran into (litterally and by accident only) were all very polite and understanding. There were a few adults and kids a like that were obnioxious but you can find that in any group. I think if you go into NOJ knowing that it is largely for teens and that there are a lot of them then things are okay. Disney does their best in controlling the herds but the difference in NOJ verses a regular park crowd is that the regular crowd is split between all the attractions and shows. the NOJ crowd is split to 3 stages and about 8 rides, simple math says there is going to be larger crowds in lines. I did enjoy it and would do it again but I would NOT reccomed it to just any WDW traveler. You have to be a concert goer, used to teens, leave your personal bubble behind, and be tolerable of laoud concerts, if that applies to you, you will probably like NOJ, if it doesn't, I would not reccomend buying that extra ticket.

For MNSSHP: We never saw the ghiradeli but we did miss the parade so that could very well be just our luck. I didn't notice anyone getting any more candy at the exit gate of any type or size but again we were leaving later than most and might have missed it then too but like I said previously we had plenty and really didn't mind if we got more or not.

For the Party Music CD: I'm definetly looking for this online but does anyone have the exact title? I found a couple online so far but I can't seem to find boo to you or hallowishes on any of them and really don't want to pay $40 for a $20 CD from the one link provided earlier.

Thanks
Minnesota

So true....while I'm very used to teens (had two, now in their 30's) and currently have one (almost 15), and have been to my fair share of concerts (being a child of the 60's!!) I was ready for the crowds and the noise. Actually loved the music. But, you're right...try to divide up that number of guests between a few areas, and you're going to have an issue.
I guess I didn't realize what it was really going to be like. I do now....glad I went the one time, but even my teen dd said she's 'been there, done that'...she'll get her contemp. christian music at home. Too funny!!!

They have trick or treating DTD on Halloween evening....you can get Giradelhi Chocolates there......actually, you can get free Giradelhi chocolates there anytime, they are always handing them out!

1. The rumors about the MNSSHP candy, are sadly just that. I trick or treated a bag full and never saw a giradelli chocolate or full sized candy bar in the bunch

We just got back and did the party on 9/9. We were each handed a Ghirardelli candy bar on our way OUT of the party, but yes the trick or treat candy was the common mix of stuff. There were some little chocolates in there along with suckers, hard candies, all the usual junk the kids get. :thumbsup2
