just back went through Poly rooms at SSr

the 2nd floor on some of the lodge building at Polyn don't have a balcony - only the 1st and 3rd. maybe all the studio in the Poly building are on those 2nd floors?

The longhouses that were converted to DVC were the 3 newest ones and all have balconies. It was in the original build that many of the Poly buildings did not have full balconies. The person just received bad info from a guide when told that the studios did not have balconies.

Although some of the Hotel Longhouses at the Polynesian Village Resort do not have balconies, ALL of the DVC Longhouses have balconies or porches.

To expand on wdrl's information. The three DVC longhouses were actually built years after the other longhouses. Explaining why these rooms are larger and all have balconies or patios.

KAT4DISNEY posted before I could.

I believe they should've had three categories, water view, garden/pool view and standard view. Just greedy I suppose...the one time I stayed at the Poly, many, many years ago, we were unlucky enough to get the second floor, no balcony (I dont call a sliding door that opens to six inches of floor space a balcony) facing the parking lot (OK monorail too!). I was not happy since out of six buildings we got that one...same booking, same price. My daughters plan to try to move our short September trip to the Poly, and I'll guarantee we'll be unlucky again. I'm going to tell her to shoot for a water view...points be damned.

The 2nd floor no balcony is NOT the way the DVC longhouses are. You are correct that if you don't want parking lot lake view would be the right choice

remember there is a lot on construction right now. the pool is way off from being completed. We stopped there last Oct trip and since then to now I didn't see a lot of work done. I sure others know how long before pool is done, but I wouldn't stay there till it's done. fencing blocks a lot of views.

Someone uploaded a pic of the pool area today to Tikimans facebook page. Hope this works.

I was staying at SSR last month for a few nights and was at the Poly to see what was going on but never seen the rooms. I am going in July for 2 weeks and will be looking to stay a few nights at the Poly when booking opens next week.I don't want to book a week because i don't know how 5 of us will fit and how much will still be under construction.I am sure the pool will be finished before the summer but I don't believe all the buildings will.
I am still wondering why points are $100.00 more then when i bought my points back in 2001 and why they are going back to buying weeks when DVC was the one's who change the way timeshares where sold.

That was for SSR right? SSR today sells for $135 direct purchase. I think it is demand that has raised the prices. And the very popular resorts are mean an even higher price of $165 per point. People are willing to pay the price. And enough buy to make it worthwhile for DVC to set those ridiculously high prices.

I don't understand the layout of these studios at all. They could have done so much more with them, but instead opted to add in a shower room? Ugh. Seems they attempted to take the popularity of a separate shower over at VGF and use the idea here.

What they should have done IMHO, is to take that space, make it a walk in closet. Turn the closet space into a laundry area, and change out the tub to a tub/jacuzzi. Make the room worth of being called a part of the Poly resort.

I totally agree the bathrooms take up far too much space the living space is tiny. Very poor design especially since they are marketing to families of 5.

I would rather have the shower room and not have a jacuzzi tub, we never use it. I would prefer a massaging shower head instead. :) Adding a laundry room instead would not have made more space for the family of five in the living room either.

I expect that the murphy bed will be used more by families of four that just want separate beds for their two children. And they will appreciate the extra shower in order to get out of the room more quickly in the mornings or when going out to dinner in the evenings.

I haven't seen the actual model but from the videos, the living space is not tiny. BLT is tiny, probably close to half the living space as Poly. Poly's rooms have the largest studio square footage to start with. They are the only studios with a queen sofabed.

I stayed at VGF with 2 friends last year and we liked having the 2 bathroom areas.

I wonder if people are walking through a VGF 1BR/2BR and then walking into the PVB studio. If so, any studio is going to look tiny after walking through a 1BR/2BR.

It would help if people who write the studio is small would indicate if they usually stay in a DVC studio or if they stay in larger accommodations. All studios, regardless of the resort, would feel tiny if you are used to staying in a 1BR, 2BR, or GV with that living space.

I haven't actually been in the model but when I refer to tiny it's referring to the fact that DVC has taken what is a very large space and made the living area "tiny" in comparison to the overall size. ie - made the living space the same as virtually every other studio and given all of the extra space to the bathrooms. That's from looking at pictures as well as the floor plans, knowing it's a queen bed etc etc. And the bathroom with the tub/toilet/sink seems to be excessively large with lots of unused floor space and appears that it could have been laid out more efficiently and some of the bathroom space given to the living area.

Tikiman has pictures on his Facebook page that show how much larger PVB studio is compared to VGF studio.

I heard that the PVB studios were wider than most DVC studios. Tikiman's photos seem to confirm it.

BTW, from looking at Tikiman's Facebook page, it appears he has become a DVC member.

And it appears he booked a Bungalow stay if I read it correctly!

I'm pretty sure I read on another site that he became a guide and is stationed at the poly now. I could be wrong, but the man lives and breathes Poly... it would make sense for Disney to position him to sell DVC there.

Stranger things could happen, but he lives in California, so I'm not so sure about this....

I have stayed at VGF in a studio, and I've stayed at a studio in BLT, VWL, BCV, and AKL. While the floor space in VGF does appear greater than the others, I couldn't agree more with what KAT says about taking a very large space and giving more room to the bathrooms while sacrificing storage space and efficiency. Obviously, DVC is banking that more people would prefer to put five in a room with less storage than having more storage and only accommodating four people as they continued that build design at PVB. We are not in the demographic which DVC is currently courting; however, I'm sure many will be.
