Just Back - Water problem solved!!!

We will have 6 people in our group this year....

$60 for reusable water bottles sounds reasonable...

But I could order 9 cases of water from Costco (delivered) for the same price (although I'll probably order only 3 cases at 1/3 the cost). I understand the enviro impact is somewhat different (but they had to use plastic to make the reuseable water bottles, too). And when one of my kids loses their disposable bottle, I'm only out like 30 cents, not $10.

I don't know...good idea, but not convinced! Especially the cold factor. Just my two cents.

The big difference with the Bobble bottles is the refill-a-bility. Instead of carrying multiple bottles of water, you can just carry one per person (or share!) and refill them with cold water at any time at fountains, CS locations ect. The filter takes care of imputities/smell. If the water gets warm, it costs you nothing to dump it out and fill it with cold.

As far as environmental impact.....one of these bottles takes the place of roughly 300 prefilled water bottles so that is actually quite substantial. Even if disposable plastic bottle do make it into the proper disposal unit to be recycled, it still takes energy and resources to recycle the bottles.

So the advantage to these in a nutshell

1)Cheaper than buying prefilled bottles
2)Filter takes out impurities/bad smell/taste
3)More convenient than carrying multiple prefilled bottles(not as heavy, don't have to worry about water getting warm)
4)Less of an environmental imact than prefilled bottles
5)I'm sure there are more that someone else can add, but that's all I can think of for now :goodvibes

Take care!

I presume you'd have to wait in regular line to get a cup of icewater from a CS restaurant, right? If so, that's a big drawback.

But that doesn't mean it takes 300x less plastic to make the refilable bottles vs disposable bottle. I understand it is better than using (and possibly going to landfill) regular disposable plastic bottles.

Hi - Just thought I'd share another tip.

The water from the soda dispensers at WDW is already filtered. So what I did was bring a small/medium sized sports water jug (insulated) - on the way to the bus in the morning - I would stop at the food court and fill it with ice and water from the dispenser in there. This kept us all hydrated for a couple/few hours - usually got us to lunchtime. At lunch - we would ask for two LARGE ice waters with our meals - then refill it.

Free, easy, cold - we loved it!

My water bobble bottles (2 pack) arrived today. That was fast!

They look good and we'll give them a try at the softball tournament this weekend.

I thought I read somewhere on this site that Costco will no longer deliver water to hotel rooms?

Thanks for posting, and linking to Canadian Tire as well.

DH and I have been vacationing to WDW for 2 weeks each summer for about 10 years now, and have tried Brita bottles, and found they didn't take all of the impurities out. We get sore tummies from WDW water.

We also eat at 1-2 TS meals per day, and we have been told by managers that not all restaurants filter water. Most do, but some don't. We don't eat CS, but not sure about filtering there in the pop dispensers either.

We are DVC, so we can freeze our water bottles in our fridge, and we then bring 6 bottles with us in the morning - they last until midday break, and then we replenish when we return late afternoon/evening.

I wish I could be guaranteed that these bottles would 100% filter out the taste of that yucky water...

Thanks, Tiger

Hey Tiger. This is just on the off-chance you are in Durham/Clarington area of Ontario.

There is an Oshawa magazine (Discover Oshawa 2010 Visitor's Guide) that can be picked up in a lot of stores. It has a $5 off a $50 purchase at Canadian Tire.

C. Tire has 30% off energizer rechargeable batteries this week and I spent more than that $50 on them. Unfortunately I did not find this coupon until 2 days later.

Now I'm holding on to it in case I decide to purchase these bobbles as well.

I see you are heading there in just over a week. If you end up using these, please search out this thread and let us know how they worked for you!

When you use the free ice from the merchants, don't you get the taste you are trying to stay away from? :confused3 The ice is made from our stinky water.. yes, our stinky water. Fl is the worst when it comes to water... Mexico is actually worse, but they aren't part of the States....:lmao:
I moved here from NY (which has awesome water) 19 years ago and have slowly gotten used to this water. I don't taste the nasty taste I use to. I do drink bottle water, tap water & water fountain water.. some of the bottle waters are made right here in Fl too... :goodvibes
Zephyrhills bottled water is from here.. so if anyone drinks that, they really are just drinking FL water...

Thanks so much for posting this. We're going in August & were thinking of brining our own water, making ice cubes w/bottled water, etc...I'll have to check out this product.

Does anyone who has used these know if they will work with a bottle holder....Specifically the ones you can buy at DW that have the black rubbery Mickey head gripper that you can hang on a belt loop??? They look great, but if I have to carry them in a backpack, I won't buy them. Those bottle holders are great!!! :)
