Wow, I'm bowing down before you and your AKL lobby photo. :worship: Great lighting, how did you do that and what settings did you use? (Ours all came out dark :sad1: ).

Nice job on the photos!

What settings did you use for the Normay waterfall shot? I've got to remember that for our Pentax...

If you shot in RAW, try adjusting the WB on the scarecrow and SE shots. You should also straighten the AKL and France shots. I typically shoot just a tiny bit wider than I need in case I mess up that up.

I love the shot of the lily! I checked the EXIF of the lily flower and I can't believe the DOF you acheived in AV mode with F8 - that's great. I tried a similar shot and didn't come close.

shot everything in jpeg but i like the look of the scarecrow the halloween party is pretty dark and liked how it looks but do agree that the lobby could do with some straightening but have done no work yet with any pics these are straight from the camera just got back friday night

I like the water lily also! Great pictures! Isn't it fun to go to WDW with a new toy???;)

For the waterfall, I wonder if you should have brought the ISO down to 100 or so? Seems a little blown out, but very nice don't get me wrong. I haven't been able to achieve this type of water shot. I have totry much much more. I have been thinking of getting some waterfall type shots and have been thinking of what I would need for exposure time, f-stops, ISO, etc. Seems like you have a bunch of stuff working against each other in that shot like stopping down to f22 because the ISO was at 800. Probably could have had ISO 100 and brought the fstop up to like f11? This may have made a beter exposed shot.

I'm no expert here by any means. Does anyone else have any advice for this type of shot?

Also, that water lily is a FANTASTIC shot. I really like the shallow DOF and the focus is perfect.

Great captures! Love the first 2. Awesome job.

Were these handheld or with a tripod. There are some pretty slow shutter speeds.

For the waterfall shot: this particular one I don't necessarily think you needed the f/22. There isn't a lot of depth. So I would agree with Andy's take. I like 1/4th or so for waterfall shots and around f/8 depending on the light. You probably also didn't need the extra exposure compensation. For the water fall along the Pangani Trail in AK, f/22 might be ok because of all the foliage around the water, but even then no really necessary. With f/22 you do lose some sharpness.

Once again, great work. We'd love to see more.

everything was handheld have yet to take the step and get a tripod setup yet but I can understand what you said about the f-stop went looking through the pics and came across these two

i think the second has better clarity for the rocks

You probably also didn't need the extra exposure compenssation .

the only thing i can think of when looking at my pictures was that my glasses are auto-tint and that more than likely made the pictures look too dark to me so i compensated by upping the exposure will have to remember to either not use these glasses or trust the camera more

Nice work - I'd definitely lean towards using RAW next time; trying to manually change white balance can be a real headache, and there are so many different circumstances that you're doomed to always get a few that are off, unless you walk around with an 18% gray card and do custom WB before every shot. :)

IMHO, there's enough other things to try to remember when you're actually shooting, that to be able to remove one thing entirely is valuable IMHO. To say nothing of the extra dynamic range. I did a few JPG photos in the middle of my last WDW trip (mostly on-ride to maximize the limited buffer space), and there's a very clear difference in the flexibility of what I can do with the JPGs vs the RAWs.

I love the flower picture!!
I also just got back, but I mostly practiced my night time shots. I used my tripod for the first time. Not something I would want to do very often when visiting WDW. lol
I haven't looked at them yet on my computer, but I hope I did as well as you did for such a gray week.

Fine work- looks like you are off to a great start! Enjoy your new camera. :)

i have the same camera and have found that a lot of the time i take pictures they come out yellow-orangeish. yours look fantastic. i love that lily shot!

nighttime shots for me with that camera are the worst for some reason. i get better pictures with my p&s (samsung).

You need to go to RAW and then tweak the WB in post processing. I believe that you will be amazed at what you find it is able to do. DSLRs are worse than p&s cams for auto WB in strange lighting, but RAW solves that completely. If you are already shooting RAW, then you just need to practice with post processing.
