We evacuated SW Florida and decided to just enjoy Disney since we were out of town. We were there Friday through Thursday of this past week.
First off, even though this is a slow time of year, the place was pretty packed. So many people had evacuated that the kennels were COMPLETELY full, thank goodness we got in.
Other than Monday, when the storm hit, the parks were just really congested.
It wasnt the worst I had seen BY ANY means but it was MUCH busier than expected. We go all of the time but I decided to make some notes this time.
Some notes:
1) Splash was working fine, except it needs some cosmetic work. At the ending scene with the ZipaDeeDooDah Lady boat, if you look behind it and far to the right you'll see a pretty significant tear in the wall that hangs down. This was also there 1 month ago.
*Many of the background paintwork/lighting on the walls is dirty. I am speaking of the backdrops in the ride. They are really getting dirty to where it is very noticeable.
2) Kennels. You should have to show a park ticket to get to use the kennel. I know this sounds harsh but, I really saw some people getting turned away that shouldn't have. Many people there were not even going in the parks (we spoke to many personally), and then someone would walk in who evacuated but wanting to go to the parks and there was no space for them. They were turned away and not only did they not get to go to the parks, they didnt have a place for their animals. Fortunately we got in and and kept our dog there with no problems, but I really felt sorry for many others.
3) I think the Halloween parties are a great idea, but they have so many of them that nearly every other night the MK was closing at 6:00. Kind of ruins the day if you are not going to the party.
However if you are not going to the parties, you can see the special fireworks shows from the ferry landing. The perimeter fireworks were amazing.
4) What happened to the 2 HUGE shells that go off at the end of wishes? They were not included in the show AT ALL this past week.
5) The ice cool station at Epcot is STILL closed which makes it MONTHS now. Are they removing this?
