Used Nativeway last Oct.-
The boat pulls right up to the sandbar, this is about a 35 minute ride from the dock.
The water was just over my waist (I'm 5'7''), but swells that day easily brought the water to chest level and higher.
The water is warm and unbelievably CLEAR! The stingrays head for new groups of people after you arrive- they know they are getting fed
The sand is very soft, but the swells can make it a little hard to maintain your footing, and they do tell you not to step on them.
The rays brush against you like a cat. They feel like velvet, although the first time I literally jumped on the man next to me-not my husband. I introduced myself from up over his head, he was really a good sport about wearing me as a hat for a few seconds
After that, it was easy to touch and pet these guys, I even held a couple. You also feed them squid by holding your palm out very flat and letting them kind of suck it off-very different sensation.
This was one of the highlights of our cruise, Nativeway was FABULOUS and a great bargain at $25/pp.
