Hi there,
For anyone out there planning ADR's at the moment, you may wish to consider The Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom. We ended up eating there twice during the last few weeks, once with a pre-booked ADR and the other as a walk up at the end of our stay.
I have eaten at the London restaurant and it wasn't a great experience, along with the RC at Downtown Disney on previous trips, which was good but not as good as at AK.
The RC at AK is the largest in the world and not only did we have fabulous food on both occasions but also fantastic service. I felt that dining at Disney World - both quality, quantity and service, had begun to slip a little on this past trip. We have been lucky enough to have free dining since 2005 (the good old days when you got 3 courses AND tip included) and the quality and service was so much better then. My husband agreed that the Rainforest cafe food, service and experience was the best on the trip.
When ordering with the Dining Plan it's the same as Disney, where you get an Entree and dessert. The childrens menu and food is MUCH better than at the Disney restaurants. For dessert you can either have one each or go for the 'Volcano' between four of you. The volcano was delicious, a HUGE chocolate brownie volcano shaped dessery full of ice cream with cream on top and toffee sauce.
I would also consider it even if you don't have an ADR. They obvioulsy have a certain number of bookings set aside for ADR's but the walk up line seemed to be just as quick. We were there during a very busy period, I even spent 40 minutes one day at reception trying to get a dinner reservation ANYWHERE, resort or park between the hours of 4.30 and 8.30pm and there was nothing available!! We chanced our luck at the Rainforest cafe again at 5.30pm and were seated within 5 minutes of arriving. It was lovely as afterwards we walked around AK for an hour in the dark as it was open until 8pm that night.
The other place I would reccomend for a great burger if you have a day away from the parks or have used 2 ADR's on one meal, is 'Fudruckers' at Crossroads near Downtown Disney. Amazing burgers with a toppings bar. I think it was $25 for a family deal (for 4 people), including drinks (inc. beer) and cookie for kids.
We also tried The Cheesecake Factory for the first time - thanks Wagneg! We are now hooked!!! Delicious!!
The worst meal we had by far was at Le Cellier. The saltiest meal we've ever had, almost inedible! We have now eaten there 3 times and everytime we give it another go we come away feeling the same, very disappointed. I think we'll give up now! Far too much hype and vertainly not worth two ADR's for dinner IMO.
Hope this helps someone. I think as the RC at AK is so huge, it had a more relaxed feel to it if that makes sense! Sometimes the one at DD can be a little much after a busy day in the parks.
Jane.
