Hi there,

For anyone out there planning ADR's at the moment, you may wish to consider The Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom. We ended up eating there twice during the last few weeks, once with a pre-booked ADR and the other as a walk up at the end of our stay.

I have eaten at the London restaurant and it wasn't a great experience, along with the RC at Downtown Disney on previous trips, which was good but not as good as at AK.

The RC at AK is the largest in the world and not only did we have fabulous food on both occasions but also fantastic service. I felt that dining at Disney World - both quality, quantity and service, had begun to slip a little on this past trip. We have been lucky enough to have free dining since 2005 (the good old days when you got 3 courses AND tip included) and the quality and service was so much better then. My husband agreed that the Rainforest cafe food, service and experience was the best on the trip.

When ordering with the Dining Plan it's the same as Disney, where you get an Entree and dessert. The childrens menu and food is MUCH better than at the Disney restaurants. For dessert you can either have one each or go for the 'Volcano' between four of you. The volcano was delicious, a HUGE chocolate brownie volcano shaped dessery full of ice cream with cream on top and toffee sauce.

I would also consider it even if you don't have an ADR. They obvioulsy have a certain number of bookings set aside for ADR's but the walk up line seemed to be just as quick. We were there during a very busy period, I even spent 40 minutes one day at reception trying to get a dinner reservation ANYWHERE, resort or park between the hours of 4.30 and 8.30pm and there was nothing available!! We chanced our luck at the Rainforest cafe again at 5.30pm and were seated within 5 minutes of arriving. It was lovely as afterwards we walked around AK for an hour in the dark as it was open until 8pm that night.

The other place I would reccomend for a great burger if you have a day away from the parks or have used 2 ADR's on one meal, is 'Fudruckers' at Crossroads near Downtown Disney. Amazing burgers with a toppings bar. I think it was $25 for a family deal (for 4 people), including drinks (inc. beer) and cookie for kids.

We also tried The Cheesecake Factory for the first time - thanks Wagneg! We are now hooked!!! Delicious!!

The worst meal we had by far was at Le Cellier. The saltiest meal we've ever had, almost inedible! We have now eaten there 3 times and everytime we give it another go we come away feeling the same, very disappointed. I think we'll give up now! Far too much hype and vertainly not worth two ADR's for dinner IMO.

Hope this helps someone. I think as the RC at AK is so huge, it had a more relaxed feel to it if that makes sense! Sometimes the one at DD can be a little much after a busy day in the parks.

That is definitely food for thought - pun intended.;) We have Le Cellier on our list but I'm starting to wonder whether the girls would prefer an 'experience' rather than formal dining. The only thing that concerns me is that youngest DD is scared of EVERYTHING. I might have to google some interior pictures as I worried it would be dark/noisy etc.

We have a ressie at RFC AK so looking forward to that, would never pay the price OOP.

Glad you liked Cheesecake factory, we only dicovered it about 3 years ago but its top of our list every trip now, even when doing DDP I will pay to have a meal there.

Sounds like you have come to the same conclusion as us for Le Cellier, would never use 2 credits there, over rated and the saltiest food ever(and I salt everything) Our first visit a few years back(2009) I rated one of our best meals, far better than Cali grill but our 2nd visit was totally the opposite.

Thanks for this, might cancel Le Cellier, we have lunch booked there. Might swap it for RCL. Never been before

One trip to Le Cellier was enough for us - never again. It was definitely our biggest dining disappointment in WDW.

I'm just planning our ADR's so this was really useful - Fudruckers has definitely made OH's shortlist! We're paying all our meals OOP too, so the pricing there sounds like the day we go there might be a more reasonable one for food!

Where is the Cheesecake Factory in relation to Disney (we're staying at the Dolphin), is it at Crossroads too?

Another for a nogo to lecellier. Second time last year and very disapointed. We did RFC at AKL and have to say verrry noisy but food was lovely. We went at 12pm. We paid OOP and had 3 starters between us and used AP and it was good value. Definatley going again.May try the dtd one though but trex might be on the cards instead as liked that as well. Glad you had a good time:thumbsup2

Thanks Wayne, just looked it up. We had it down as one of our options to pay but now will be able to add on the ddp:thumbsup2

By the way Wayne I booked my Virgin flights via the website you always recommend and will be getting £20 cash back so happy about that as I didn't realise I had put it through that way:rotfl2:

Jtlover -Yes both are are now on dining plan, also T-rex at DD.

crabbie1 - Yes, it seemed to be much busier at lunchtime. I think the trick is to go near to or after park closing, as most tend to head there during their day in the AK or if just going for the morning on their way out of the park. Our 5.30pm reservation was much quieter. I overheard the walk up line during our lunchtime visit (an ADR) was a 35 minute wait, whereas a.t5.30pm we just had to wait 5 minutes without an ADR.

BlondeViki - No, I'm afraid that the Cheesecake Factory is at Mall of Millenia which is approx a 15 minute drive away from Downtown Disney, from my recollection.

Just to let you know the Rainforest Cafe at AK does a thousand covers, so it will be noisey during busy times. It is dark inside, but I found that quite relaxing after being in a crowded park. The animals come to life approx every 30 minutes accompanied by the noise of a tropical storm. They're not frightening though and if you want to, you can ask to sit away from them. We were by an aquarium during the first visit which was lovely. My DD's 5 & 7 years weren't frightened at all (although my 5 year old rode Everest this trip so that doesn't really say much!!!), and were kept busy with crayons, colouring, wordsearches etc that they provided.

Just wondering whether RFC at AK is open later than the park as I would like to eat there later, what time have people eaten there?

Thanks for posting your thoughts :goodvibes

We once ate at RC (AK) on Christmas Day and had a good meal (although not the usual turkey and trimmings!):goodvibes

Never been to the Fudruckers near WDW but DH enjoyed a good burger when we went to Hilton Head and I feel he may want to go again if I mention it.

Day we are eating there we had options for dinner between 5:00PM-7:50PM, we booked 7:30pm. Park closes at 7pm.

I totally agree with you about the salty food at LC :(
Our dinner there was the worst meal we have ever had at WDW
The Cheesecake Factory on the other hand is just wonderful and well worth hopping in the car for :)

Glad we booked RFC @ AK for dinner now... sounds a good experience to end a day in the park with ! DD will love it as her topic at school at this term is the rain forest .

Might give The Cheesecake factory a go this time as well...we hated the one in Vegas recently...it really was the worst place we'd eaten in...found the puddings very artifical tasting...! Only went because I am a fan of The Big Bang Theory and Penny works there:lmao:
