Just back: Things I had forgotten about since my last trip.

I just got back from a 5 day WONDERFUL trip with one of my sisters and my mom. I wondered how WDW would feel without my kids or husband and only two 50-somethings and a 70- something. Also, I hadn't been in 5 years. Also wondered how it would be since my mom would be using a scooter. Answer: It was beyond wonderful.

One of the many things I had forgotten is how engaged the CMs are with children, whether they are performers, or in the shops, or restaurants, or anywhere. It is delightful to see.

The performers! Everywhere from parades to shows to the little extras like the Trolley Show or the Dapper Dans....high marks! high marks! Such energy and talent.

Forgot how cute Main Street Electrical Parade was. We had no plans to see it but as we emerged from our STELLAR dinner at BOG (and we did full dinner, not just dessert as I thought...the menu was too good to pass up...get the mussels!) it was just starting in the hub. We walked right up to the curb and had perfect views, no waiting. It is really cute and I liked seeing the mix of the old, original floats (some showing their wear) and the new things. Great fun.

I forgot about how absolutely organized and thought-out everything is. If a CM says "wait here", then you wait with 100% certainty that someone will come and tend to you and take care of you. We were amazed by the thoughtful design for disabled parking (just follow the blue line) and the many clever ways each attraction and show is accommodating of wheelchair and scooter users. For my mom's sake, it made me so happy to see that her experience wasn't adversely affected in any way.

Sure, there are a lot of scheduled Meet and Greets, but many had short wait lines, and we did see characters quite a lot out and about. It was great. They seemed to be everywhere and made such efforts to be "in character". (Chip and Dale being mischievous for example).

The FOOD!!!! Such great food. Our BOG meal was terrific, only surpassed by our meal at Hollywood Brown Derby. But, really everything was great. Of course, the Dole Whip was as good as remembered.

A great trip. The Osborne lights were stunning, stunning, stunning and the Candlelight Processional was top-notch and moving! The castle in her shimmering Frozen finest and all the Christmas decorations at all the parks were so terrific and none are standard. At Animal Kingdom, for example, the wreaths are bicycle tires adorned with bottle caps. So clever. Looking forward to going back sooner than 5 years for sure.

How wonderful and refreshing to hear about your trip!!! A magical place, for sure.

I've traveled with my husband in a wheelchair, with myself in a wheelchair, and with my father in a wheelchair. Plus, many times without that "accessory". I have to agree with the Cast Members and entering a queue or any area. They will direct you to where you need to go based on *you* and your needs. Walking just fine, go with the flow. But when my husband (not the wheelchair time) was walking a bit poorly (later to be found out as gout) in the way back areas of Animal Kingdom and a Cast Member offered to go and get a free wheelchair if he needed it, well, that was a great thing.

Too often we hear on these boards about "bad" Cast Members and we rarely hear about the ones that make the trip. Thanks for your post!

My gosh your review has me smiling! This is wonderful to hear that you and your family had a great time. I love hearing trip reviews like this. :goodvibes

I just got back from my trip a couple of weeks ago & your post has me very excited to book my birthday trip in March! Thanks, OP! :)

So glad you had such a wonderful trip and chose to share the experience here! 40-something year old me is going with my 70-something year old parents for Easter, and I cannot wait!
